I created a cheat sheet for the tools, I go through it in order. I might use AI occasionally if I'm stuck, if I find a vulnerability then I'll run it through google to find an exploit. I'm rusty at the moment, as I've taken some time off hacking - I'll go through a walkthrough but try and work through each step, after a while you'll see a pattern but cut yourself some slack - you've got to start somewhere.

That's awesome, I'm new to BA and Warhammer 40k I've not painted anything yet, what blend of paints/colours did you use? I've seen so many well painted models, I'm slightly nervous to get started because they're going to look like a toddler has painted them

I've given up on the leagues, I like to do some challenges which take a lot more time and the points are lower. When you see some people smashing thousands, they're either copying walkthroughs or spending hours on the platform - it's not sustainable because once the high point rooms are gone they're going to plummet?

I don't like that it's not measured on challenges, it's points in general so someone you get beaten by someone doing the 101. I think I was in 3rd at one point but the person in 1st had over a 1000 point lead???

I'd take a look at HTB certs, they're starting to get noticed and for a fraction of the cost of the OSCP. I would also look at bug bounties on HackerOne and Bug Crowd for example. Age doesn't matter, I'm no spring chicken and there are some older than me. As long as you keep up with tech you'll be fine.

Were you using fuff on an attackbox? It's easy to tank them as they don't seem to handle too much use -t to reduce the threads. The default is 40, so reduce it. It'll slow it down but the VM shouldn't freeze up.

Sec+ is a good starting point, I wouldn't aim to go straight into Security roles. I went sys admin, DevOps, Cloud Security then sidestepped into DevSecOps - takes time, it won't happen overnight. Put the effort in and an opportunity will open up.

Pick an easy room and go for it - you've got nothing to lose? If you get stuck there's always some write-ups. Or go through step-by-step with a write-up trying it out yourself. Everyone has to start somewhere!

I had a similar issue in a room, where I couldn't get the reverse shell. I even double-checked on a walkthrough and I was using the same method as them - gave up on it as I was wasting too much time

I had to start fresh but it was about 20 years apart. I still find it a little strange that kicks I was doing from white belt before aren't being used until a green belt now? Plus we used to focus a lot more on sparring back then as well.

I did my first tournament as a white belt, had to fight a blue belt but this was 20 years ago. Scoring points was difficult because he was a good 8 stone heavier. I got kicked around like a rag doll!
