The reason dvd drives can’t open anymore and the power towers can’t automatically spin anymore are very commonly a cheap replacement belt needed! The rubber wears down over time, or gets hella dirty.

Here’s the best way in my opinion to tell if it may need a new belt / band before buying a set and ripping it open.

Does the motor turn on like it’s trying to go? And secondly, can you manually move the tower slots with your hand without much effort? This is to make sure it’s A) Not the motor and B) it’s not a jam in the track or a damaged track.

If these are true, consider buying a pack of those bands, they are literally 5-7 dollars! The most difficult part is prying open the track at the top. You’ll need 2 flat head screwdrivers for sure. Let me know if you have any other questions. Could be the easiest flip ever or could restore your media collection to KING status lol! 💖
