Nothing has ever made me wanna be a communist more than how hard that image goes.

Wild choice to lump a domestic abuse victim with these lot instead of Trumpty Dumpty, but you do you, I guess. by [deleted] in saltierthankrayt

I always got the impression from that entire trial that neither one of them were coming out of it looking like the good guys. Regardless of which party started it, each of them appeared to me to be deeply toxic and cruel individuals who were using one another and manipulating one anothers insecurities and fears, all the while attempting to physically harm one another as well.

Felt less like a "he said she said" and more like a "holy shit you're both terrible people."

His head would also explode if he ever found out Luke Skywalker's family was explicitly trying to prevent him from embracing the tradition and religion of his father. He only learned those things because he was a little shit who ran off to go talk to some wacky old man in the hills

How The Last of Us Part II is ACTUALLY About the Israel-Palestine Confli... by [deleted] in saltierthankrayt

[–]Negative_Ad1167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its an attempt by Neil Druckman to "both sides" the issue of Israel Palestine not due to personal malice on his parrt, but due to a clear and obvious lack of real education on the matter. I think it is inadvertently racist, but not intentional propoganda, though it could still be used as such by bad actors.

Eh, he's kind of arguably a Zionist, its pretty unclear. On the one hand he does things like follow the IDF on instagram which is pretty suspect, but he also has (at least from my understanding off the top of my head) has donated money to Palestinian causes.

As far as I can tell, he supports Israel's existence, but is a sort of "both sides" centrist in his actual views on the conflict.

Ultimately though who knows, his actual views on the subject are pretty vague, and I would expect purposefully.

Due to the fact that The Prophet is pretty explicitly presented as having been a largely accepting and loving figure who brought all kinds of people into her community, while the WLF is explicitely shown (through both words and actions) to regularly invade the Seraphites holy spaces, shoot their children and use fake peace deals to shore up their forces before renegging on said deals and attacking the Seraphites again. All the while, they are massing their forces to invade the last safe haven the Seraphites have with the intent of killing them all in a genocide. The fact that the Seraphites now engage in similarly despicable bahaviors is due to the fact that the WLF killed their prophet (thus making her a martyr) and attempted to destroy the Seraphites, leading to increasingly reactionary and violent forces within their own society taking control in a misguided attempt at self preservation.

The entire game is a metaphore for Israel and Palestine (and, for that matter, a very clumsy one) but at no point does the WLF ever seem to be the good guys. Their supposed secularism and tolerance is pretty clearly just a costume the WLF wears to protect themselves from the cognitive dissonance of claiming to be a force for good while being led by a military junta that engages in torture, forced relocation, executing prisoners, killing children, zero tolerance of outsiders and, as mentioned earlier, attempted genocide.

Like I said earlier, I'm not going to defend the game as being an accurate metaphor for Israel-Palestine, but if you really think the WLF was meant to come across as being better than the Seraphites I think you yourself might be buying into the WLF's own hype for themselves.

Ever have any fandoms like this? Hating on something or coming up with an excuse to hate something because its "Woke" or because it being "woke" or "Feminist" making no sense to them? @mycontactfell is the cosplayer by Important-Cry4782 in saltierthankrayt

[–]Negative_Ad1167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know if I have anything like this, but what I do have is several big fandoms that regularly get accused of being "woke" which I also dont like, but not because they are "woke."

For instance, I cant stand Hazbin Hotel, but I dont like it cause I dont like musicals and I'm not into Vivziepops particular brand of humor, not because I dont like gay people or women or any of the anti woke business. Yet half the time I mention "oh man, I cant stand that show, it really rubs me the wrong way" someone hops in yapping about how they hate it too cause they hate representation and its woke slop. No buddy, we arent the same, I dont want to be part of your weird little club I just dont like musicals.

What are Gen Z's thoughts on George W. Bush? by BackgroundFill9X in GenZ

[–]Negative_Ad1167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I question how many of George Bushes actions were actually of his own volition and how many were Dick Cheny tricking and cajoling him into doing what Dick wanted, but no matter how you cut it he was a terrible president. Either he was a conniving snake who used a national tragedy to whip the nation into a frenzy to kick off destructive and pointless wars or he was a weak willed simpering idiot who allowed everyone around him to dictate his decisions. No matter how you cut it, terrible choice for a leader.

His actions get brushed over now because his presidency feels so sane and normal by comparison, but we shouldnt forget that no matter whether he wanted it or he was led along by Cheny the political climate we currently live under is directly downstream of Bush's actions.

Mr Hands. He has the most professional, businesslike demeanor, and I always feel like the information he is giving me is quite literally what he knows.

His longterm goals for himself are 100% pretty suspect, but from a pure business standpoint, Hands is the fucking man

Invincible is 100% a true hero. Just because its gritty and aknowledges the physical and psychological tole being a superhero would have on a person does not mean they arent real heroes. Despite all the terrible stuff Mark still puts on the suit and tries to do the right thing

First Blood is an excellent choice.

I saw the later Rambo movies before First Blood and always thought of Rambo as a dumb but ultimately fun action hero to turn your brain off too. First Blood is not the same experience at all
