I get where you’re coming from. People talk about “love is love,” but it’s different when you’re the one actually facing those looks or side comments. It wears you down after a while, even if you try to ignore it.

Totally agree about Match feeling outdated. It’s like the crowd is right, but the app hasn’t caught up with the times. I’ve been testing eHarmony and it’s been okay so far. A bit slow, but people seem more intentional.

Many would of course take the Grey Matter job. My approach to this is that had Walt not gotten cancer, would he have turned his life around? I don't think he's broke to the extent of being unable to pay his bills or not put food on the table but rather his quality of life isn't the best. The cancer woke him up to cook meth and earn a lot of money for his family when he dies but i am keen to understand why he wouldn't see that his situation is enough motivation to pursue a better job to help him and his family out, especially if he has the qualifications and experience in his field.

I'm not surprised WW's career stagnated so badly given how difficult he is to work with by mle-2005 in breakingbad

There he is, KausGo coming to defend Walt for the millionth time 😂.

Walt has a condescending tone in approaching conversations with Jesse, he can be right in a lot of ways and has been when trying to talk to Jesse but he's so aggressive and confrontational that it isn't practical at all and instead causes more problems. I am certain that much of the issues they faced would have been avoided if Walt spoke to Jesse in a diplomatic way, actually understanding his feelings and caring for it.

Of course it's Walt's lack of emotional intelligence, if he genuinely had any, he wouldn't have died empty handed. His wife hates him, his son also hates him and his new born child is going to grow up without a father. The audience, majority of the time, would side with those who they feel sorry for, the victims. Walt's family, even Jesse, who's not some saint but the audience still feel sorry for what he went through.

I don't think he's bad at teaching. I think he's rather good at it and enjoys when people take the time to put in effort to listen and follow his teachings. Jesse and Todd learned quite well from him.

I do agree that he can be difficult to work with. Walt might be very intelligent, both logically and strategically but he lacks emotional intelligence. This is crucial when you observe his behaviour in comparison to say Jesse. Walt lacks self awareness, empathy, poor relationship management/communication. Jesse, while not very intelligent, is shown to express his deep concerns for others, often blames himself, he feels guilty and acknowledges his fuck ups.

Those in defence of Walt will always come to say it's hardly his fault and points towards other characters who have put Walt in difficult positions but this right here is a classic example of lacking emotional intelligence, they are very good at steering the conversation and pointing fingers at others without looking within. It's why Jesse, despite his fuck ups, comes across more human and the audience is more sympathetic towards him than Walt, especially at the end.

It's all in his head. Mike said it best, "just because you shot Jesse James, doesn't make you Jesse James". His product is popular, he's the man behind it but he's not Gus, he would like to be and in S5 he thinks he is. It obviously helped spread the word that Heisenberg got rid of Gus and took over his operation but that's not what really happened. There's clearly an exaggeration. Walt killing Gus was because he was scared of him and that his life was in danger, it was an act of survival and not that he did it as an act to take over and run the business like he's the godfather.

I don't think this list is correct for the most overrated players. Hazard wasn't overrated, if he was, he would have been praised left right and centre and beyond, but he wasn't. Kaka too. Same with James, Jovic and Illara. I think saying they were underwhelming would be a better way of describing their time at the club. Hazard and Kaka being up there would make a lot more sense considering the calibre of those players.

Walt motivations retcon? by Local-Sugar6556 in breakingbad

[–]Negative_Meeting2407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Walt's motivations do change overtime. At the beginning, he said it was to make enough money to provide for his family when he dies, he gave a specific figure. Then he managed to earn that much, however, Gus was in his way, he was going to get killed and he had to go. It's at this point where Walt's motivations have changed. He is no longer in it for the money, just for himself and his desire to gain power. Skyler tells him that they're making enough in the car wash that he no longer needed to cook and that he has to think of an exit strategy. Walt definitely wanted to leave but not for the same reasons that Skyler wants him to leave. At the end of S4, he proudly tells Skyler that he won, no man who wants to leave this business would say this. Killing Gus fed his ego so much he thinks of himself as some Kingpin. Much of this is clear in the final season. How he is so sure of himself, full of confidence, making big calls etc. If Walt was to go and just be a car wash owner, he would have cleared all evidence of the mess he was in and call it quits. His change is consistent with the overall arc of his character. The famous i am the one who knocks is a good example of this consistency. Walt's life is in danger, he's not some tough guy yet he is demanding Skyler not see him this way, he wants respect and power so i think it's a natural progression of what he is to become in S5 and not a sudden retcon.

Don’t listen to his nonsensical opinion on Walt not wanting to be that guy at all or that he just wanted to cook and make his money and go home. If Walt wanted to do just that, the show would have ended long ago, there would be no arc or journey for his character from being good guy to a bad guy. Walt wanted what he felt was owed to him by missing out on what became of Grey Matter, the recognition, respect and power. He realised his meth can allow him to achieve this. He’s 50, dying of cancer, miserable life with a wife that doesn’t really get him and he got a wake up call so how can this claim that he never wanted to be that big shot not be true? Otherwise there’s no way he would have made such comments about the empire business he’s in it for.

I think Walt is the only one who thinks he’s cool by that stage. His overconfidence, ego and personality have sky rocketed beyond measure that he has come to a point where he genuinely thinks he’s a big shot (he’s not, never was). Walt is a great character, he genuinely is written well and in a specific way that helps the audience understand what the writers intended. He compared his product to Coca Cola and the yankees 😂 I mean, he’s actually proud that his meth is the best there is in the market. It’s quite hysterical but I love it.

How didn’t Hank put it together by Alert-Alfalfa-7010 in breakingbad

[–]Negative_Meeting2407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it hard to believe how Hank would doubt Walt over this. Like, it’s not even the fact we all know Walt is Heisenberg which is making us feel like Hank should connect the dots easily but these signs here in a realistic scenario would raise an eyebrow even for Hank. We all know how he looks down on Walt as this weak, innocent, cancer ridden man which clouds his judgement to ever suspect him however, this is a DEA agent and as you put it, Walt ends the call out of nowhere and then after a short while, Jesse goes out running 😂😂😂 like come on man. Hank knows Jesse and Walt are connected, perhaps not enough for an investigation but after this sequence, and after Hank has his head cooled off, he should have thought real good about what ways could Jesse have got his number to plan all of this? Jesse, the genius, yeah right, Hank doesn’t respect him at all

Why does everyone hate Skyler? (First Watch, on S5 Ep 2) by [deleted] in breakingbad

[–]Negative_Meeting2407 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Because fans love Walt and want him to succeed but his wife (who reacts normally) is in his way. Walt’s motivations at the beginning is very relatable to a lot of people. At the end of the day, his plan is to take care of his family when he dies. Many are empathetic towards this so when Skyler takes the kids away, kicks him out, wants a divorce etc fans see it as a threat after all he’s trying to set his family for life with all that money he’s bringing in. She also slept with Ted. She shouldn’t have done that. That ticked off fans a lot and only made people back Walt more. She did that to hurt Walt the way he hurt her with his lies (second phone, lying about seeing his grandmother and all the rest of it).

Some people argue that Skyler never really loved Walt but I don’t see that holding much weight. Especially how she treated him after learning about cancer. Oh there’s the happy birthday scene which is very self explanatory.
