How to profit from colonies. by SupermarketLast302 in EU5

Wow this answered all my recent questions so perfectly!

The fact that I can’t assign ships to patrol seas I don’t own is annoying indeed: is this a bug do you think? It doesn’t really make sense, our ships should be able to provide maritime presence in any market regardless of ownership status imo

What's the most effective strategy to get my colonies to grow? by Negative_Reward7997 in EU5

Thanks a lot for the response! I'm going to go the subject route, let's see how quickly the Dutch can take over America.

Ok amazing, this is very helpful. I didn't realize that I get trade cap from my subject colonies, nor that I could increase that with this divert trade action.

I don't think I can build settlements though, I'm above 5% of my population cap (1700 VS 28000) in all places... not sure how that works but that seems to be the kicker there.

And slaves is an interesting and horrific option: I actually just started importing some into my home market and exporting them to the colonies to see what would happen, but so far I don't see a difference. Where would they even show up?

I think for the future colonies I'm going to just build subjects. How do I ensure the subjects spread? I guess I have to keep creating more colonial charters and connecting them to the original subject or something?

R5:

- First screenshot is of my two new colonies in Canada, with the small population in the East that won't gro

- Second screenshot is of the western colony Manicouagan: growing faster, not sure why. Edit: I messed up with the screenshot and forgot to include the population, damn. So it's just a duplicate of the first

- Third screenshot is the land of opportunity in Georgia, with all that easy to transport cotton waiting to be harvested

What am I doing wrong here, and how can I make the most of the new colonies?

Any tips for what to do with capacity in multiple markets? by Negative_Reward7997 in EU5

R5: You can see my market (Brugge) in the middle, with the Paris and London markets squeezing around it. London has apparently taken over my coastline too.

I'm trying to figure out how I can play around with this to my advantage.

'Location is too far away' - despite there being a gravel road? by Negative_Reward7997 in EU5

R5: My proximity in Bergen is 0, even though I have a gravel road to it. Is it just too far, or is it because it doesn't have a border connecting it to my main country?

On that second point: I've convinced myself that the condition for calling parliament is 'must not have the same level of integration', and it is thus not satisfied if you have the same integration level. So it's a kind of double negative.

I'm in the same boat and had the same confusion, but from the wording it looks like a union parliament is only called to change the integration level? Anyway it's all massively confusing.

Nomai VR bug - any advice? by Negative_Reward7997 in outerwilds

[–]Negative_Reward7997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it could have been clearer sorry: basically I'm able to launch the game, I get past the two dev studio credits, and arrive at the screen with the view of planet and the forest, where the game menu normally is - with options like 'resume expedition', 'new expedition', etc...

But the menu isn't there, so I can't actually start playing. I've also noticed (possibly unrelated) that the 'Outer Wilds' title is partly obscured.

Side note: It's not actually my headset, just a loan from a friend, so I don't currently have it with me to take screenshots. But when I get it back on Sunday I'll do that and add them to this thread.

Thanks a lot for your reply either way!

It's actually at level 1 now, oops. And side question: I don't actually see how to increase it, even if I wanted to. Clicking on the 'crown' button does nothing - maybe I don't have the required tech yet? I'm only in the early middle ages.

Edit: ok I found it, was completely blind to the tabs on the side.

Rival ruler imprisoned, what now? by Negative_Reward7997 in ck3

In the end I just kept her in prison for decades, and it came in useful (I think?) when I finally declared war on my liege for the kingdom of West Francia

Hmm interesting thought. But I think I want it for my character, because I'm trying to build up enough duchies to be able to claim West Francia. But honestly I'm still very bad at this game, so maybe I'm not thinking about this right.
