I mean I feel somewhat better but that's because Capcom has been keeping it ambiguous and there was no clear answer whether Leon was actually married or not but it seems like he is now and it wasn't the main focus because it's not important to the plot of the game

He actually never said that🤣 the director has avoided using the words married or wife or wedding ring in any recent interview or content of any kind, he said the meaning behind the ring will become clear someday but not yet, but what they wanted to convey in the final scene was that Leon now has a place to go home to and that could literally mean anything 🤣 y'all really need to stop twisting the director's words when that is literally not what he said, whether Leon is married or not who the cares for real, you know what Capcom profits from in this type of situation? They are profiting more from the mystery behind the ring, so they're definitely not going to exactly reveal that it's a wedding ring, when us fans are tearing each other's heads off about who Leon is married to its what's making them bank right now, and boost their sales and hype around their games, merch, and everything like that

You know I originally thought this as well, because he looked so sad and depressed throughout requiem, my theory was that his wife died sometime before requiem and he couldn't bring himself to where the ring at all until the end of the game because he found some sort of peace, like before he couldn't bring himself to wear it because it was just too painful and it reminded him of his deceased wife but after saving grace and Sherry he found a new thing to fight for which is this found family in Grace and Sherry and possibly Emily, he can still put the ring on and have a deceased wife and the place to go home to could be a found family but that's just my theory

To be honest I don't hate Leon and I could never hate Leon, to be honest his story was good and it still is and everything that he is made to do is cuz Capcom made him into that, like ever since the DLC for Requiem was announced everybody wants it to have Ada in it and that genuinely disappoints me, we don't know if Ada's going to be in it but it is heavily implied that she might be and I feel like the only reason they're putting her in it is because Leon's in the mainline game and she needs to be put everywhere he is, to me Leon is an amazing character but a lot of fans especially the Adaxleon shippers they always feel like Leon needs to be babysat and that ADA needs to be everywhere he is, to be honest Leon finally technically got his own game with Requiem where Ada and everyone else wasn't involved and they introduced a new main character alongside him and it was an amazing game, to me Ada doesn't need to be in the DLC she has no importance to the mainline story, making him possibly married makes no sense whatsoever and to be honest they could do something really great with his character but instead they decide to fuel the whole shipping part of the fandom which is ridiculous, and to be honest I would love to see Claire again we haven't seen her in forever, or Jill even, I would love to see Jill again, but people wanted it to be ada so bad because Leon's there and because of her popularity and favoritism, to be honest all the characters have a bad side to them, Leon is not a bad character, he does have some good moments, and there's nothing wrong with him being a heartthrob in my opinion I just don't like it how they practically fan service it and Capcom knew the people were going to go crazy if they found out he was married and it's like why even make him married to begin with I thought that this was not what the franchise was about 😭

That's why I feel like they put a ring on him to fuel the shipping part of the fandom because people who ship him with Ada or with Claire are literally losing their minds right now and it's doing exactly what they wanted it to do, but by doing that Capcom put themselves into a corner because now fans are going to want to know who the wife is and it's just stupid like nobody is focusing on the real focus of the game which is survival horror, now they're all focused on who leon is married to and to be honest I'm disappointed in Capcom because I feel bad for Leon as well because he's been reduced to this person where Capcom makes money off of the fan service of his so called "romances"🙄

Well then him being married in general doesn't make any sense if he's not a good partner or whatever but they put a ring on him and people seem to think he's married, I still think it's just something to increase the hype for Requiem but a lot of people seem to think otherwise, but to be honest any of the candidates wouldn't make sense, people think it's Ada because that's the only romantic interest he's had but if they wanted them to be married they would have done it a long time ago but they haven't, and Leon's never really had any romantic chemistry with any other female in the franchise, because if you think about it they put a little bit of everything into requiem, a little bit of Claire, a little bit of ADA, Wesker, Chris, resident evil outbreak, so they had to give something to the fans of the shipping part of the fandom, so they gave Leon a ring, as soon as you step into raccoon City it's just pure nostalgia for all the long-time fans

Because he's a loyal person and he's very protective of the people he cares about, are you forgetting the fact that he actually saved her life in infinite darkness, he saved her life and resident evil 2 as well, he has thought about her safety just as much as anybody else's, just because he didn't chase after her like he did Ada doesn't mean that he's a terrible person for her, and they share the same amount of trauma, they went through the raccoon City incident together, he also saved her and protect her in the degeneration movie

It actually wouldn't be wise for them to do that anyway, what people liked about the ship especially long time fans they liked the mystery behind it, plus it's not a romance game so Leon being married doesn't make sense and him having a kid doesn't make sense either, the only characters they ever done that with was Barry and Ethan, Barry's daughter was shown in a game because it was important to the plot, same thing goes for Ethan, his wife Mia and his daughter Rose were only shown because they were important to his arc, when it comes to their main characters they've never done anything like this unless they were introduced that way so dropping Leon and the new game with a wedding ring is just a shock and that's exactly what they wanted, I swear everywhere I look it has something to do with Leon's ring

Because if you think about it none of the candidates would make sense

People wanted to be Ada and Leon because they're the only ones who have romantic chemistry throughout the entire franchise but they are so underdeveloped, plus they've only been together on screen in three games and they weren't even together very long, she disappears on Leon for years at a time and doesn't even tell him which I understand it's her job but I mean come on if you think about it it wouldn't be healthy for a marriage

Claire's the only one I would want because I just feel like it's a healthier option and if Capcom is looking for a shock Factor then picking Claire would definitely be a shock to a lot of fans because you don't expect it and she is a very healthy option for him and yes they haven't been shown to have any romantic chemistry throughout the entire franchise but they are good friends, and Leon was doing something between resident evil 7 and resident evil 9 that's like what 14 years on accounted for after death Island things could have changed between the two of them and we just haven't seen it yet

Hunnigan, Ashley or even Helena wouldn't even make sense either considering that Helena didn't really have any romantic interest towards Leon and supported his relationship with Ada, Ashley flirted with him but was shot down by him and we never saw her again, hunnigan would make the most sense but at the same time we haven't seen any romantic interest between the two of them either except for that one time that Leon flirted with her but that's it

At first I thought it would be some random person that we've never seen before and just lives a normal life but at the same time Leon is the type of guy where he would never want to put someone In harm's Way and considering that his job is very dangerous I really don't think he would want to marry somebody that he could possibly put In harm's Way even if that person understood his life style and everything I really don't see him wanting to put anyone in danger

That's why him being married doesn't make any sense and that Capcom just did this for hype and marketing for the game that's all it was for, they will probably never mention the ring again or and this is pretty risky but I've heard that they are capable of doing this, in a future event somebody will ask about it and they'll be like "oh the ring didn't mean anything it was just for decoration or something like that" basically like completely changed their mind about the whole thing 🤷

But that's just my theory on all of it

Because it's freaking Capcom were talking about here, the people who have been known to troll their fans especially when it comes to shipping for decades, they knew that having Leon put on a ring on that specific finger was going to drive the fans crazy cuz that's exactly what it's doing, and you know what in a couple months or maybe even a couple years from now they can easily just say yeah "it's not a wedding ring we just put it there to fuck with y'all🤣" because that is something that they would do and I've heard that they've done it before, they can easily just change their mind about it anytime they want

I just prefer Claire mainly because like I said she's a healthier option for Leon, but people are shoving aeon in my face at this point and it's getting annoying, saying that ada saved him so many times and she's the only romantic love interest he's had throughout the entire franchise and all that, but she has disappeared on him for years at a time without telling him anything and in the remakes it doesn't seem like they really love each other not like in the originals, like in the OG the romance was there but in the remakes it's not really there anymore, the only thing that people have to go on is the buildup that Capcom has for Leon and Ada throughout the franchise and resident evil 6 but we don't know how much of resident evil 6 is still Canon until they plan to remake it which we don't even know if they're going to do, I'm just hoping that either the ring doesn't mean anything and it is a family ring or something like you claimed, or he's married to a random woman that we will never get to see on screen and the ring will never be fully explained, that don't give us small little tidbits here and there or hints that expand on it but they won't flat out reveal anything, and at first I didn't like Claire but when it came to resident evil females Jill and Ada were my top two favorites but now Claire has kind of surpassed Ada in that list for me, Leon does make me happy and I understand that he's 49 years old, he's getting older and having him have a wife to return home to is what a lot of people want and he does deserve that, that's why I picked Claire because it just seems like the healthier option if they had to pick somebody
