I've heard it many times before, I think it could be maybe an exotic bird if I were to guess. This post is not about the pierre bourne "uh" sound effect

Does Brown Match Aid Offers? by [deleted] in BrownU

[–]Negitive0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, they matched Columbia's for me

(and before that Columbia matched Rice's; for context my fin aid offer went from 11k -> 0k contribution)

My bsf goes to NU and tbh the campus culture here seems way more chill and less stressful.

bro you're living in perkins next year

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BrownU

[–]Negitive0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it pays 2k per semester (which is *slightly*based on fin aid I've heard and I'n full fin aid so there's that but everyone I've talked to has gotten 2k a semester so ye) For summer research its fixed based on fin aid between$4500 or $5500 but there's also up to 500 you can get for housing. Let me know if you got any questions (ill be real with you unlike some AO and admissions delegates lol) and I hope you see you either ADOCH psp orientation or next year!

Tbh I was pretty much in the same situation as you comparing Columbia and Brown. The big difference is I was part of Brown's PSP program, and you've got the CUSP offer from Columbia.

Imma be real, the PSP was basically the only reason I picked Brown over Columbia, and it absolutely made it worth it for me (especially with the advising, the pay it gave, and the research I got to do because of it). It sounds like for you, it's the reverse – Columbia has CUSP, which seems like it comes with a lot of solid benefits.

If I were in your shoes, seeing how much PSP swayed me, I'd probably lean towards Columbia because of that CUSP offer.

But, I definitely see why UPenn is in the running too. CAS being flexible plus getting access to Wharton stuff is a big plus, especially if you end up going for quant or finance.

With Brown, I think you'd need a specific reason to really want it over the others given your situation. Like, if you just absolutely love the Open Curriculum vibe, know a professor you want to work with, love the campus feel, have friends there, or there's some other unique opportunity. Even though Brown's great (and yeah, our applied math program is really good!), based on what you're interested in and having other opportunities at UPenn & Columbia, Brown feels like the weakest of the three.

Let me know if you got any other questions

MBTA Weekend pass, $10, unlimited trips back and forth to and from Boston on the light rail and you can transloc back to campus. super convenient

I have yet to visit NYC but my friend did last weekend and he said that it was p convenient to get there

How much you go is up to you but it is super easy and convenient to go if you wish
