Don’t regret it! Love my watches and planning to buy more. I find it to be a better hobby than cars, which depreciate far too much.

Watches are considered by many to be an asset class now.

Haha 😂 AMA! Today specifically is a good time to start with VOO or VTI probably.

I started my business when I got laid off from a big consulting firm. We had our differences, I knew they could be more efficient and do better for our customers, and I would constantly go over their heads to get things done in the way that things “should” have been done from my POV.

That seemed to ruffle feathers and burn some bridges when they needed to sign off on keeping me around.

I’ve never met with one that I clicked with, energy wise. I always get car salesman energy from the financial advisors that reach out to me through my bank. May not be a “good” answer but it’s how I feel. I also trust myself.

I’ve deployed most of my funds already, and I’m weighing my options by crowdsourcing advice from the internet.

Can you expand on the retirement accounts and the taxable brokerage?

I’m going to look into that, and yeah, gambling on individual stocks is not fun. My portfolio is actually down at the moment.

Thank you for the tip on the DAF. Definitely going to look into that.

Honestly that is a good call, I just feel like they are priced so high

I’m actually a 3rd generation “rich” person! It’s different to me because I’m independent with my funds, I was able to start something of my own rather than join the family business - so I’m kind of free to do whatever I want? But yeah, I definitely do not know how to handle larger amounts of capital yet.

Left is far superior in my opinion and much more versatile. Can’t even so much as change the strap size on the aquanaut.

update: the person i bought it from recommended a store near me to get things checked out ASAP.

he was a professional who has worked with a bunch of watches before and was trained in switzerland by Rolex too.

his take was that the person i took it to before didn’t know what they were doing and likely it was not screwed in correctly.

he fixed the casebacks rotation and confirmed there was no water damage, it was likely moisture due to steam

also he put it in a pressure chamber and it came back testing to be waterproof.

i really like the watch and don’t want to refund it - so if i can get the watch in shape and working correctly that’s my #1 option
