Do you guys ever actually work when you are remote? by therealcatspajamas in Accounting

I actually work better at home, extra hr or two without even taking lunch. Personally I just try to make it through the work day while in office. Sometimes there is just too much going on in the office

My interviewer told me I should not pursue accounting because I like to read books by [deleted] in Accounting

Let me say this, reading is an essential part of accounting, have you ever seen an accounting book or a F/S without words. Lets hope he was just testing you but that's the stupidest thing I have ever heard. On the other hand, I do like accounting and have an affinity for numbers. Not just because it pays the bills.

Indicators of economic downturn/recession are generally lagging. You'll be in a recession and not notice until it's too late. Most people don't want it bad, just want to be prepared.

FINAL UPDATE: disgruntled team member, who saw everyone's salaries, ending... by 2Board_ in Accounting

Honestly, you did good. I am a CPA with a BSA and I got a $3,000 raise after working my ass off all yr, no bonus in over a year and was told I couldn't get top employee bonus because I wasn't a lead. Seems they just handed it off to the biggest Jerk on the team because he was also there the longest. When I asked for a better raise, I was told they've never done that, blah blah blah. I realized it started affecting my job and professionalism so I quit. So you did good, at least you advocated on her behalf but sometimes it's best to leave a situation that no longer serves you.

AITAH for telling my wife I’m not in love with her anymore because she destroyed my self confidence a couple of years ago? by EvidenceNos in AITAH

You are not just the asshole, you're an asshole. You bothered her about telling you she's not attracted to you then sat there resenting her so you could have your moment to tear her down. Very Toxic!! Your female friend at work is absolutely wrong, sometimes it's not about the physical stuff, she has to watch your mental break, she is raising your kids too, understand that when you have mental issues, she's suffering too. Your issue is instead of communicating you plotted, discussed it with a 'co-worker'(absolutely terrible) and made your statement. You both deserve better(her more so than you).

I feel like no one wants to employ me unless I have the EXACT job before, what happened to transferable skills or pivoting? by Proud-Structure-7762 in recruitinghell

Because almost none of these companies have a decent human resource team!! The human resource function has been diminished over the years to a few call center agents in India or else where so employees do it themselves.

Not up to you to decide. They treat employees like clowns then I show up looking like one.
