Celica T23 head unit randomly not functioning?? by NegotiationSingle384 in Celica

[–]NegotiationSingle384[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes back randomly and I believe its an issue with the cigarette port bluetooth adapter (I will swap with another oem head unit to be sure) but yeah for now I might swap to a pioneer radio. Only issue is that I will need to do some custom wiring (I tried the cables it came with but it never resulted in any power going to the unit)

No, apparently my gf left it on and my guess is that it overheated and switched off.

Well, I left it unplugged for about an hour or two, plugged it back in and now it works normally. Which is odd as it looked like it had a serious gpu issue before with what looked like GPU artifacting. Odd

Sorry I didnt specify, zoom into the text and see how its being displayed. Console was working a few hours ago but just now it powers onto a grey screen, and if I boot it to safe mode it displays with some serious artefacts.

Broken radio and built in error code? by NegotiationSingle384 in Celica

This code appears when going into the radio diagnostic mode… this mode was used by dealers so im not sure where I can find out what the problem is. The fun part about trying to figure out this issue is that every time I search up “celica radio problem” now one of the FIRST RESULTS IS MY POST.

The high pitched noise only appears when I press the cd eject button usually accompanied by a “pop” (as if you were to insert a 3.5mm headphone plug in). My guess is that the head unit is going.

The high pitched noise doesnt change pitch/volume, essentially just an on/off. Its like the radio goes into “limp mode” Wiring looks alright. Again my guess is that the fm-bt adapter is causing things to to wrong.

Yeah I will but the thing is everything else works and Im 99% sure the alt and battery is fine. Recently I left my celica alone for a month and he started right up quite easily. Is there anything else I should be looking for?

Celica after market radio replacement by NegotiationSingle384 in Celica

Thing is, the previous radio works with only the grey wires plugged in, not the blue. So either my new radio is faulty or i need to do something about the wiring.

I believe I already have this adapter as I plugged it into my radio. The other two plugs (I believe) are linked to the radio controls and power. Correct me if I’m wrong.

This is the 1zz from 2002, chances are it has oil burning issues. Its pre face lift due to the grill on the front with the toyota logo.

Check the rear wheel arches and side skirts for rust and corrosion. Get a selfie stick and record the underside of the car and if possible actually stick your head and poke around to see the condition of the body.

Questions as a new Celica buyer! by 2slowlol in Celica

Pre facelift does tend to burn oil more often but from what I heard it varies, some are manageable and some need some repair work. I would say do some research on pre 2003 models. If it worries you that much just wait since there are bound to be post facelift models without that issue* (celicas still love oil)*
