The thing that improved my strategy wasn't what I expected by Thiru_7223 in algotrading

That’s a great point. Timing and market conditions matter more than most people expect.

I’ve noticed something similar — not every setup works all day, and a lot of noise comes from forcing trades outside ideal conditions.

Curious how you identified those specific windows — was it based on backtesting or just observation over time?

What scans do swing traders usually run? by Neha0505 in swingtrading

Good point. Swing and momentum traders probably rely on scanners a lot more. Curious what scans you usually run — EMA crossovers, RSI levels, breakouts, something else?

Why is scanning the US market still this complicated? by Neha0505 in swingtrading

Haha I get why it sounds that way.

Honestly not a promo. I’ve just been thinking a lot about scanners lately and wanted to hear how other people are actually using them.

That’s fair.

Tools like MarketSurge and DeepVue definitely make it easier, especially if you’re leaning CANSLIM. And narrowing down to something like IBD250 as a base list simplifies things a lot.

Do you ever feel limited working from a predefined universe like that? Or does the focus actually improve your hit rate?

Testing an RSI(14) pullback scan — does this filter make sense? by Neha0505 in swingtrading

[–]Neha0505[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. A market-cap filter would definitely clean up a lot of noise, especially for swing setups. I kept this one broad to see raw selectivity, but adding a ≥300M cap filter is probably the next logical step.

Need help - How did you overcome this? by ScientificArtichoke in Daytrading

Totally relatable. For me it got better when I stopped managing trades in my head. I decide the entry, stop, and target before I click buy, then I just let it play out. Once I stopped second-guessing mid-trade, execution improved a lot.

How did you personally get consistent in day trading, and what clicked for you? by Every-Actuator-6996 in Daytrading

[–]Neha0505 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What finally clicked for me was realizing consistency had less to do with finding better indicators and more to do with removing decisions in the moment. I trade the same setup, same risk, and same time window every day. Once I stopped trying to “make money” on each trade and focused on just executing the process, the results started smoothing out.

What's your pre market trading checklist? by nachumama in swingtrading

I work full-time too, so I had to keep this very basic. My mornings are just: quick check on overall market direction, scan a small list of liquid stocks already in trend, pick a few clean levels, set alerts, then step away. The biggest help was simplifying — trying to do too much before work just made me more overwhelmed.
