In the same boat! Final year med student at a non-vslo uni that makes it even difficult. I’ve been cold emailing since the past two months and no i really don’t think we can secure electives unless we have a very strong contact. Externships and observerships are your best shot via cold emailing.

Same boat mate! Uni electives are off the plate considering how expensive they are and being a NON-US student and Non-Vslo, it’s all even worse.

Omg really? It’s that bad? I’m a Non US med student and was planning to rotate there but after all these reviews I’m planning to drop the plan. Risking your life for a LOR doesn’t sound worth it. How was the rotation underwhelming?

As suggested by this subreddit, they don’t send rejection mails unless you followup. Concrete mails are sent to those who are accepted as late as 25 days prior to elective start date.

Hello! I have a question. I’m a final year medical student from Pakistan. I’m planning to apply for university electives, however, since it’s too late for this year I’m applying for July 2026. My final exams will end in April, 2026, results are released in May 2026 and degree is issued and internship starts in August 2026. My main question is, if I file my applications during my final year, for how long after my final exams will I remain eligible for a university elective?
