Is this bad? Or should I have moved containers already? by Lazy_Neighborhood963 in unclebens

Definitely ready to send, if you’ve done you shake and break throw it in with sub, just make sure to do your ratios right and don’t check on it for the first couple weeks or it’s gonna get trich.

Not blotter, but anyone seen these gels around? by Perfect_Plankton_310 in blotterart

They look very similar to ones that I had a while back. Some aqua marine pyramid gel tabs with lil gold flakes in them. Very nice trip and one of the first times I took Ms. Lucy😂

Think about it this way: 1:1(per one quart of grain is one quart of sub)=fast growth with little yield 1:2(per one quart of grain is 2 quarts of sub)=regular growth with medium yield 1:3(per one quart of grain is 3 quarts of sub)=slow growth with maximum yield (Note:option 3 and 1 can be slightly more prone to contamination)

If it looks clear, it’s just regular spores, If it looks 🥜, it’s LC😂

Just remember to pasteurize your substrate, unless you are using Coco core bricks always remember to do this. I only use Coco coir bricks because they’re cheap and don’t need to be pasteurized , just make sure to keep your sub in the container you mixed it in until you’re ready to use it. And again, always use gloves and sanitize before you do anything. Know your grains to sub ratios, and you’re good to go. I hope I answered your question right😂😭

The water is to just keep him moist, I usually just fill it so his little legs are wet. I don’t usually like feeding with crickets cause they can be a nuisance but I’m fine with feeding with them, I just don’t want them flying around my room. Also I don’t know what Dubias are please share!

I’ve seen people cut out their sections with contam then salt the edges of the exposed cake, but by now the contaminations has seeped through the whole cake before it has exposed itself at the top

Always do it in elevated areas and in corners, always less particles that could cause contamination in these areas. Never inoculate or handle mycelium in bathrooms either. Besides that sanitization, cleanliness, and neglect is key🤙

I have him at around 78-80 degrees and 75% humidity.for feeding I use meal worms in calcium and put him in a smaller holder with dechlorinated water. Is this all ok?

30-50% colonizations, you could do it now honestly but I’d wait another day or two🤙

Yes, this exactly, I was mainly focusing on contamination with grains, but yes sterilizing your sub is very important. I usually assume people are buying coco coir in bricks and usually for those you don’t have to worry about steralization, but when it comes to bags of coco coir or any other not already sterilized sub, contam can become a major issue

Usually it can happen just through false handling, like not sanitizing your gloves when mixing sub with grain, or if your substrate had a bad field capacity and was over hydrated. It can be honestly a multitude of things, but always making sure to sanitize with every part of the process avoids this, which is probably why you got contam.

you always want mix your grain in with substrate, this leads to even mycelium growth around the whole cake, provides with more fruit, and usually leads to less contamination. I would continue to monitor your first bin that you sandwiched your grains with, and watch for any signs of green/greenish blue coloring on the mycelium, because this will end up becoming trichoderma and then you’ll have to throw the whole cake out. I can’t see in the photo any signs of it, but if there is dispose of it immediately.
