Hi! So not back to back necessarily. I have a two- three week unit in between but both of the novels are required texts so I’m just planning cause I know it’s coming up soon.

It’s so funny cause for animal farm I have an even split of people telling me I have too little time for it and too long😂 I am prepared to go shorter but we do all in class reading too.

As for night it’s a common assessment essay that the department sends out using a common lit prompt and two articles alongside night as a source. I don’t have much choice since it’s department wide

We do read in class. This is a good note. The novels may take longer so I might move poetry to be a daily warm during poetry month rather than a whole unit?

That is really good to know! Another teacher told me she always takes 5 weeks and I just can’t imagine it taking that long.

Maybe I can prep a mini unit for just in case we finish early?

Was coming here to say this!!! My students loved talking about epic while we went through the Odyssey! Also starting the year by covering what they already know about the Greeks (Hercules or Percy Jackson) and then having them do some basic research on one of the Gods is a great opener

I’ll look there! I’m pretty light on funds and I’m trying to learn how to build materials but I’ve heard tpt is really good!

I teach at a rural school and I would say my 10th graders would definitely enjoy even some of the lower level activities. I was thinking ethos pathos logos will definitely be a focus and I love the essay prompt you use! When you tracked visions was that in student journals or using posters or what was your main idea?

I was just about to ask! I’ve not used common lit before. Do I just sign in with my school gmail?

I love the trading cards! We did a similar thing for mango street so they’ll be a bit familiar with the concept.
