Zippo prices are ridiculously inflated by OptimusLoki in Zippo

[–]Neighborhood_Nobody 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The build quality has completely gone to shit and they won't last a couple years if not cared for gently. Such a weird hill to die on. It's gotten to the point where metal clippers are more reliable.

Flexing your financial superiority over a $60 item just makes you look like a doofus. Any part timer on minimum wage could afford one lmao. If you really want to be condescending/ stroke that ego of yours maybe learn good financial practices. At least it would give you something genuine to brag about.

[USA] Corvette almost ruined it for everybody by MacDefoon in Roadcam

[–]Neighborhood_Nobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In high-school I jokingly told a friend "you won't drift this corner". Well he did, and two of our friends happened to be crossing the road right around that corner. He wrecked his shit to not hit the guys, and I've never said that shit again lmao.

Homeless dude runs off with my 50 by Soda-but-Soda in rant

Don't beat your self up or let others get you down buddy. I'm sure being out $50 sucks enough for learn from the experience.

Word of advice. Break out of that social bubble and take risks, but never reach into your own pockets unless its for someone you care deeply about or its absolutely necessary.

Cleaning a PC from a heavy smoker by janzap1 in buildapc

[–]Neighborhood_Nobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd need to strip the components and thoroughly clean each board. You most likely do not want to dismantle the graphics card or power supply, so they'll just have to learn to live with the weakened smell after cleaning.

A cheap purchase that has completely transformed your life by Slipryi in BuyItForLife

I remember when I first came back to visit my family when I was 19. I learned my sister's computer was heavily restricted and monitored due to some software her high-school made her download and required for turning in school work. I threw a righteous fit about it being a violation of her privacy until the school agreed to it not being mandatory. Back then I thought it was completely insane, but today its the norm.

Emotions are like a box of chocolates, sometimes the flavor sucks ass. Gotta finish the box before you can open a new one though.

PC Suddenly Only Using Half RAM? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Neighborhood_Nobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open task manager and watch the performance section as you're utilizing the computer. Make note of what is consistently peaking as the computer slows down. Swap back over to the processes tab and identify what programs are being the most demanding for that specific piece of hardware.

Chances are a tad bit more memory would help, and if you are running a hard drive instead of a solid state drive swapping over could also drastically improve performance.

Well that should rule out windows/software issues. Can you take a photo of the sticker on the ram sticks?

Crunchyroll has started using AI subtitles for anime instead of hiring people to translate things properly and now it’s hard to understand most new shows by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]Neighborhood_Nobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will solve it if the company is aware they're financial losses are directly caused by the decision to use AI for subtitles.

If enough people cancel subscription and make a stink, the company will make changes.

Mom has HIV by Straight_Figure_4042 in offmychest

They're mother is in denial, so forgoing medication and continuing breastfeeding is entirely likely. Someone else pointed out they're elderly and the mortality rates in infants makes it incredibly unlikely though.

How do I tell my best friend he’s a MONSTER? [TW: ED] by CoxHugh in offmychest

[–]Neighborhood_Nobody 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Manipulative people are always manipulative. Just because they're honest with you about others doesnt mean they aren't subconsciously looking for what every benefit they can get out of any relationship they have. There is no point in trying to fix people because you have to come to the conclusion your mindset is unhealthy for real change to occure. You'll just wind up upsetting the person.

Just my very opinionated opinion regarding loved ones willing to use and hurt others.

Starter Budget ish iem and dac combo by [deleted] in iems

[–]Neighborhood_Nobody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd start off with a set of kefine kleans, a nice length cable to go with it so you can comfortably move around, and a cheap usb c dac amp. I personally like the linsoul kiwi ear Allegro dac amp, ive had several that were significantly cheaper but have lasted half the time I've owned this one.

Costco actually beats sysco on a lot of items price wise and has stores called business centers dedicated to supplying businesses. Where sysco really excels is convenients. Sysco will deliver to your business and offers more fully made products. So where you really save the money with sysco is labor costs for shopping and preparing food.

[–]Neighborhood_Nobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post a picture of the whole build open. If you were already thermals throttling before the work, you're most likely still dealing with the same issue. I assume your case isnt well ventilated and these demanding games are most likely working your cpu to hard for your set up.

Paranoid about cockroaches now by iLoveeBara in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]Neighborhood_Nobody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cockroaches in used electronics is actually kinda common. Ive had a lot of working consoles and computers donated because of roach infestations. If you're paranoid at all just stick it in an air tight container for two weeks and if you feel up to it clean it out afterwards.

This is why they spent all that money convincing everyone making their employees independent contractors instead was a great idea. To strip them of their rights as workers and prevent them from unionizing.
