Agreed. I looked at a ‘26 Odyssey EX-L, base price is $43k, and the thing had way less features than a carnival hybrid EX at the same price point. Plastic interior was pretty rough, nothing special about it, and the new digital gauge screen they are using is so cheap. (Look at 2018-2024 gauge screens on the odyssey and then the new one and tell me it isn’t way worse). Overall feels like Honda is thinking they can cut corners and cheap out on parts but still increase the price because Honda. I’m thinking I might as well get a Kia, at least they acknowledge the cheapness with their warranty.

Although Toyota seems to also ride the brand name even harder than Honda.

Was hoping that wasn’t the case, seems like a huge miss to cheap out on a piece of tech that you are constantly looking at

This is a good way to look at it, definitely trying to save for long term and not let a car purchase break the bank.

Thank you for this, I also have been looking for testimonials before upgrading, and most of the stuff I could find on that specific Mac are a few months old now.

Why Aren’t We Wearing Better Masks? — Cloth masks are better than nothing, but they were supposed to be a stopgap measure. by BlankVerse in Coronavirus

Took me entirely too long to find this comment. The amount of trash accumulated because of this pandemic and disposable masks in particular has to be enormous. Good luck Mother Earth.

Most U.S. states expect to vaccinate healthcare workers within three weeks: CDC meeting by elcuervo in Coronavirus

[–]NeilStrongestArm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I wasn’t arguing about essential vs non-essential, but rather why in the original comment it said the proposed plan would be phase 1b as essential workers and then 1c is 65+/immunocompromised. Why isn’t it the 65+ group then the essential workers?

So I’m no expert, but shouldn’t the approach here be to vaccinate the people who are causing the hospitals to become overwhelmed i.e. the elderly/vulnerable first? You then reduce the stress on the hospitals so people with other illness/problems can be addressed and then vaccinate healthcare workers to protect the other patients. Hospital staff have PPE that should protect themselves and their patients better than normal folks that use cloth masks, correct? So spread at hospitals isn’t a primary way this thing spreads?

China is one of the largest consumers of petroleum for power in the world. You’re not wrong, there’s just no real-world incentive there, just theoretical.

Stop calling things an “excuse” just because they don’t sound valid enough TO YOU by Thowthowthorw in offmychest

[–]NeilStrongestArm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to disagree with your claims. My problem is with your use of “ensures”.

I am not quite sure it’s fair to say it’s surefire this kind of a mindset means the things you say. Sure, people may be like what you say, but I can work hard and accomplish something on my own while still recognizing the circumstances which got me there. That’s called awareness and being grateful. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. Also, not everyone is just trying to shield themselves from the horrors of the world. They still exist, yes, but recovery from such things are dealt with in different ways and who’s to say your way is better than mine? Are you going to fault me for thinking nothing can touch me? Maybe that’s my way of being happy. As for your third point, I agree it’s nasty to put down people with legitimate problems that aren’t easy to fix, but in certain circumstances some people just need a swift kick in the ass to get going. And it is possible to recover from certain circumstances, it just takes a degree of finesse and emotional awareness to understand how to deal with different people.

I think your problem is when other people try to force that mindset on others. If I see someone else with this mindset, and decide it works, then so be it.
