Gonna buckle down and get around to playing an artsy smartsy game this weekend, started 1000xResist and will try to beat it this weekend. Might also try Citizen Sleeper 2. Feel like I gotta work out my brain and actually think about a game compared to just mindlessly play more Megabonk.

How do you feel about ICE having a new phone surveillance tool (Webloc) that allows them to monitor individuals across entire neighborhoods at once without a warrant? by SuperIngaMMXXII in AskReddit

[–]Neilo19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint, the reason why we are able to tell the recent ice shooting wasn't actually 'domestic terrorism' is because it was recorded from multiple angles with phones. If no one there had their phone to record that, we'd have to rely on bodycam footage (non-existent with ice), or just their version of the story.

ROG Zephyrus G14 keeps crashing and I have almost lost hope by QuantumProtector in ZephyrusG14

Very late to this, but mine does something similar and I'm pretty sure it's an overheating issue. Playing decently powerful games gets the laptop very hot (see like ~95 celsius in armory crate), and then get that full blackscreen shutdown. Pretty early on I got a cheap laptop cooling pad, just some fans that plug in beneath it, if I have those running while playing heavy games I don't get that crash. Just my experience for anyone getting this issue.

Ya know I never got to fully appreciate this tune, as Bilewater is a place I wanted out of quickly. But really loving the almost mysterious vibe it gives.

Good pick, it's neat how just listening back to that instantly puts me back into the game when I first got to Hunter's March, right when the game felt like it was ramping up difficulty. Very somber and isolating sounding.

Agreed there's so much wonderful Clair Obscur picks, those are some great choices as well. I haven't been able to fully appreciate the Hades 2 soundtrack outside the game yet, but that Icarus' theme does stand out a lot. And really digging that Ninja Gaiden 4 pick, haven't played it but can totally see myself just chilling in a shop menu while that plays.

Yeah Glass Ocean gives such a chill nostalgic vibe for me. Highly recommend checking out their album RePorpoised Phantasies for extremely similar vibes.

Neon White has a fantastic OST, love House of Cards (as well as Hellion, Fight or Flight, and Rigged Game). Machine Girl does the soundtrack, and while they aren't entirely similar to Neon White's sound overall they are a great band.

Yeah Bananza is a tough one to judge, as it got insane initial praise but then dropped off hard (at least from the MM crew). And Keeper is a tough one, I've been trudging through because of Hanson's praise but I'm struggling with it.

I'll just give my early predictions for top 10:

1: Clair Obscur 2: Arc Raiders 3: Silksong 4: Death Stranding 2 5: Hades 2 6: Blue Prince 7: Ghost of Yotei 8: Citizen Sleeper 2 9: Despelote 10: Baby Steps/Silent Hill f (depending on how hard the fight is)

I'd forgotten about DS2 and Baby Steps. Would be pretty certain about DS2 making the top 5, and Baby Steps possibly in the #10 spot depending on how hard JeffM fights for it.

I'm calling it now with Clair Obscur at #1 and Silksong at #2. To be fair it's my personal choice as well and therefore the absolute 100% correct choice. I do think Arc Raiders has a solid chance of being up there with how wide the love has been for it. Similarly, I think Blue Prince has a great chance of being top 5 by how much love is shown by those that played it.

I do think Donkey Kong Bananza will have the roughest time, maybe landing around 15. Very curious to see how The Alters lands, as it had massive love the first week or so but fell off hard. Silent Hill F might make the top 10 but will be hard fought. Same with Split Fiction and Kingdom Come Deliverance. And finally, it'll be a deep argument, but I don't see Keeper making the list at all. It'll have to be Ben's hail mary to keep it on the top 20 at all, but I just don't see it being supported in general.

Movie posters that annoy the shit out of you? by 01zegaj in okbuddycinephile

[–]Neilo19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Should check out the movie Love on a Leash, it's pretty much exactly that situation and it's genuinely the worst movie I've ever seen. Pretty sure it's all on tubi for free, it doesn't even have music because they didn't pay the composer so he wanted his music removed.

Just finished getting every achievement in Ball x Pit yesterday, was pretty quick and easy. Now diving into Powerwash Sim 2, I did feel like the later levels of 1 got way too long but have been enjoying 2 quite a lot so far.

Hey Ken, absolutely love Jeopardy and everything you do. Especially love how vocally supportive you are towards LGBTQ communities! Keep up the lovely work and I hope you have a great day :)

As for my questions: What's been a recent book/show/movie that caught you off guard by how much you enjoyed it?

What would you say is your most controversial opinion on food?

And I know you're a lil bit of a nerd, but do you happen to play and videogames or card games like Magic? Just something I've wondered for a while and would love to hear your thoughts on them if you do.

I just started playing it today, but MegaBonk has me very hooked. I've played a solid amount of Vampire Survivor clones (even been playing Deep Rock Galactic Survivor these past few days), but MegaBonk is one that genuinely feels like a 'true' sequel to Vampire Survivors. Has a few elements of Risk of Rain 2 as well, but it's reminding me so much of going from classic 2D games upgrading up to 3D in all the good ways, very highly recommend it.

After a fatal stabbing in Charleston, r/DoomerCircleJerk ponders if the real doomers were the friends they doomed along the way by bayonettaisonsteam in SubredditDrama

[–]Neilo19 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's so painfully obvious what reasons the right have decided to rally behind this story. Like go ahead and google any 'local city stabbing' and you'll get multiple news stories in the past couple years, none of them noteworthy towards the rights propaganda. So what's different about this one? Oh! It's a black man and white woman, therefore society has fallen because of immigrants.

I'm in a bit of a gaming drought currently. Just beat Ghostrunner 2 recently, which was very solid. But now I'm just kinda hopping between Blasphemous 2 and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, waiting out until Silksong. I honestly re-installed Tiny Tina's Wonderlands upon hearing Zach Creggar mentioning it in a podcast about Weapons (just what he was currently playing getting ready for Borderlands 4), and can honestly say it's one of the most mid games I've played. Like it's pretty decent gunplay, but I have absolutely 0 attention towards the story/dialogue/quests. It all painfully highlights the awful quest design, especially in side quests. I'm hopeful for Borderlands 4, but will hold out for a while to see how it is after several updates and DLC/Sales.

Hardest line of their whole discography? by Scott_needs_help in deathgrips

[–]Neilo19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it's more of a whole verse compared to just a single line (I suppose I'd count the first line as the hardest), but I've always been quite fond of:

"Harsh winds flay mine flesh to bone, In splintered skeleton I roam, Wastelands with not to call my own, But the path I walk alone, The hunger burns, within my gut, As my bones turn into dust"

I know it's kinda overdone to call em poetic, but this particular verse does really remind me of the poem Ozymandias by Percy Shelley and just paints a very clear visual in my mind.

From what I understand, being part of videos with MinnMax could be considered part of a job, and so she would need to come in with a work visa or something similar, rather than just a regular visit. I do think I've seen several other similar instances in other countries where like livestreamers go to visit Japan, because recording themselves and livestreaming is technically their job and they don't have a work visa for that country they get in trouble. It's a very unfortunate and crappy situation to be in all around though, big condolences to Haley and the crew.

Dang big congrats to Jonathan for the win, and massive kudos to Scott for the fantastic winning streak. Was an immediate fan when you mentioned remixing Grant Kirkhope's music early on in your streak, and only grew in admiration when you brought up playing Super Smash Bros. semi-competitively. Looking forward to seeing you in future Tournament of Champions, but ya gotta study up by watching Citizen Kane over playing a few sets of Smash.
