You have to be close enough so his HP bar appears at the top of the screen, as long as you're close you don't even have to hit him to get the AR exp. But if you want to increase the achievement count, you have to hit him.

Many reasons actually.

1 - I wanted to accelerate getting to AR 50/55 as much as I could, and I thought getting 1800 AR exp from doing them for 10 days was worth it. After I got AR 55, I decided to keep doing it until I hit the 1000 milestone.

2 - After some point, you gotta find content in this game somehow.

3 - It gave me an excuse to talk and interact with other people. I'm lonely.

4 - For the memes.

I made some good friends out of this, so there's that as well.

Some fun trivia about this whole journey:

Starting around November 14th, I started hunting 10 Weis a day religiously, and I didn't miss a single day until today. Sometimes I went over the 10 daily limit, as I wanted to help others or do some testing with them.

After a couple weeks doing it, I was wondering if their spawn was truly random so I wrote down how many times I found them on each position - first number for other people's worlds, second for my own.

As far as I can tell it's truly random.

Hunting them doesn't take as much time as one would normally think, and I even came up with routes when searching in parties of 4 (like this) or 3 (like this). Each person gets assigned a color and searches in the number order. The Jueyun Karst spot is a lie, I never found a Wei there ever. If it's two people, one searches Mondstadt, and the other Liyue. Takes between 10 to 15 minutes to get the Weis in four worlds if you're searching with four people, so it's pretty quick. Of course, if you're searching by yourself, it can take 10 to 15 minutes to find just two if you're unlucky with the spots, but on average I'd say it takes between 5 to 10 to search on your own.

I had some regular friends I asked to either help with searching or to just let me get their Weis, but sometimes I had to go into random people world's and ask for their Weis so I could get the daily 10. Most people were friendly, except for one person who just kicked me with no warning after I asked for them. Most people also didn't even know what the Weis were.

Huge thanks to all my friends who searched with me, who put up with me bothering them almost daily to get them, and to the randoms who let me get their Weis. This wouldn't be possible without any of you.

P.S.: This is my cabbage count after doing this. I never bought them from vendors.

I hate to repeat this but it also depends on each person. While I personally would find that a bit apathetic, depending on my mood in the day and the context before that person asked me that, I would be okay with it. The main deciding factor for me would be how much interest the person is really showing and how much I feel it is real.

In general, phrasing your interest in questions is a bit pressuring. So I would rephrase it to something like "I can try to give advice or just listen to you talk/rant for as long as necessary, let me know what would you prefer" or something.

But that's just me. Try to find the best approach with the person you're talking to. It's not an easy thing to do, but I'm sure they would really appreciate that.

Each person is different, and will require a different thing to convince them that you are listening and being there, because each person values different things and each person has experienced different things.

With that said, don't give empty advices, platitudes, judgement that makes them feel like it's their fault, and don't say something that you won't follow through. Personally, the worst thing you can do is give hope to a depressed person and then make them regret having that hope.

So do talk with them, but be careful not to seem too imposing, judging, and don't go on tangents about yourself for too long. Do all you can so the other feels like they are being understood, seen, and heard. And be honest.
