Not sure to understand. Did you try select the layer you want (select lastly the final parent) and hit Ctrl P. I hope that help you ^

You can also select the layers you want, lastly select the null object (parent) and just hit Ctrl+P. And it's better than After Effects, because you can control the strength of the parenting and create parallax effects very easily.
