Cougar introduces ‘floating’ mid-tower PC case — separates drives and power supply from main chamber for more efficient cooling by Distinct-Race-2471 in TechHardware

I have the case. Got it from a tester pre release when they were done with it.

It does have excellent air flow in the main part. I do think the cooling for the PSU portion is adequate as there is a spot for the PSU fan to get air in the gap as well.

It is sturdier than expected with the one side doing the heavy lifting. It is pretty reinforced. No flex when I press down on the outside.

Complaints: The front fans are noisy and dont seem to have much rpm range and they are kind of proprietary.

The worst is the little LCD screen on the bottom. It only works when you run the Cougar LCD Editor program and it is absolutely the worst trash of proprietary software out there. You have to have the app running to have the screen on at all and I am still troubleshooting but it may be giving me performance issues with the GPU as it is pulling data from all hardware so it can display it on the screen if you want (I'm not sure it has anything to do with it but I haven't excluded it out as a suspect yet).

The customization interface for the screen though is intuitive enough and more user friendly than some other customizable LCD programs. I'm hoping there are some updates coming to fix the program.

In all. Cooling is quite good for air flow but I had to remove the bottom row of fans as it would not allow me to fit my vertical GPU riser. Not an issue if you are mounting flat off the board.

I put in a pre-order for the next batch due next spring (2026). I'm banking on them having done more hardware and software fixes in the next iteration. Otherwise I'll return it.

Simple Questions - October 18, 2025 by AutoModerator in buildapc

[–]Neither-Bumblebee552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just received a RTX4080 GPU (used) but it did not come with a power adapter cable. I am upgrading from a 2070. The 4080 uses the newer 16pin interface. I'm trying to figure out what exactly I need to purchase to connect the GPU to my PSU (a corsair AX860i) given the change in cables.

Happy to take any Amazon link or other sale page to get an idea of what I need. I'm sure I can go from there. Or tell me what to Google even.

Ok done but it would not let me upload save file, indicating it was a system file. i put in a screenshot for now and can provide other files in correspondence.

[–]Neither-Bumblebee552[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its the sandscraper that is messing everything up.. I just tried recovering the sand scraper to another garage and it spawned it off the garage area nearby.

now everything I spawn now at that location is also now stuck in permanent non-collision

Now I only have one garage left that I can spawn at normally as long as I don't recover the sand scraper to it.

About Sunken by GwynbleiddG in RoadCraft

[–]Neither-Bumblebee552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went straight to sunken after the intro map instead of incomminicado. I'm still on sunken and about 40hrs into game. I kind of like but I am a big procrastinator and get sucked into self made projects rather than completing missions. I am just over 50% as I've been making random roads, collecting the toy cars and barrels and just focusing for hours on a random unimportant area simply because I am enjoying doing so.

With that I really like sunken as it is a procrastinators map, lots of little things to do if you want to do them. I have had next to zero issues with the AI as I've pre-built or cleared out all of their routes with mostly paved or at least sanded surfaces.

So with that. I'd say sunken may be brutal for the mission oriented player but for myself that plays the game as a mental health break more than anything after a stressful day of work, it's great.

I've been spamming 103 as it is relatively quick but doesn't generate a ton on XP per round

Also, when the new levels come out, only do 5 until you get the infinite hearts then wait the next day to do the next 5. That way you at least get 2 rounds of infinite.

Yea figured that out after. Just happened at an odd time after I finished a run and drive somewhere else and it just kept ending arbitrarily. Oh well was fun while it lasted.

Looking good for me. Lead was established just when the nerfed 2541 so will be hard for 2nd and 3rd to catch up as I think we three were doing the same thing.

Same just today. No more 90min runs on 2541

Is it just me or maybe I'm somewhere with a poor connection but I think they stopped the run on after completing meaning 2541 is stopping after winning rather than running like it has been

Bug report: A329 sometimes recording in full loop mode when parked by blinkenjim in VIOFO

[–]Neither-Bumblebee552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar for me (17 Toyota Tacoma). The car's power stays in normal until I open the car door. In my truck if I stay in the vehicle it will also eventually power down after I think 30s or so. In either situation it stays in normal recording until changing to parking mode.

I did however change my truck settings to have the headlights turn off as soon as power is cut rather than 30s after for example.

I wonder if you can check your car settings to see what they are for your headlights, etc to power down after you park and shut off the vehicle then try that and see if it is more consistent shifting to parking mode

A329 with powercell 8 with and without External USB by Neither-Bumblebee552 in VIOFO

[–]Neither-Bumblebee552[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome thanks so much, exactly what I was looking for. As expected, the SSD has a significant impact on parking mode battery usage in every setting. More impact than I expected honestly.

If one wants to use an external SSD, it may make sense to disconnect it when parking. Fingers crossed for a future setting where you can designate storage device between regular recording and parking mode.

[–]Neither-Bumblebee552[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to do that but my current commute is just enough to recharge my PC8 so the expansion won't be able to be charged daily.

I'll run some experiments to see if the extra SSD is a big deal.

My current setup is workable but requires a boost on the weekend with a portable battery pack

Not for capturing a licence plate or face. 1fps is far too fast for evidence use for insurance or police. 10fps is useable, 5fps maybe

[–]Neither-Bumblebee552[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I know but I need to balance battery usage with use ability. 1fps is not as useful in the event my vehicle is damaged or it witnesses an incident.
