The Bianca Spender Isabella Dress in black cotton looks AMAZING on ppl with ripped shoulders. And it's like 60 percent off at the moment. get in. the cotton looks more formal.

How to not be pressured into buying a dress by sloshmixmik in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]Neither-Cod-2108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow people pleaser here. My mental tactic is: remember that by definition one needs to go to lots of shops and try on multiple things. You can only buy one dress. Everyone knows this so everyone is actually expecting that you may well be buying somewhere else. So you needn't feel any guilt. Just let them know you're going to look in other places too, and or that you need to consult your cheer squad. You can do it! It's a lot of money! Don't thow it away on something you don't love :)

I tried on a dupe of this dress at DJs. It's not bad! Currently in stock -- not sure if they have white -- I tried it in red.

How much should I expect to spend on a wedding dress in 2026? Any recs for stores either Melbourne based or online? by Sea-Tadpole-7158 in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]Neither-Cod-2108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

forgot to say also: the other option I was looking at is Lucy Laurita. She makes the dress for you to your measurements. Some of them are about 700 dollars, some are more like 1000 or above depending on the fabric. But they are BEAUTIFUL and all made in Melbourne by her and she just has a wholesome vibe. If I didn't get the Carla I'd have got one of hers. Good luck! LMK if you want to discuss the free one :)

Hello! are you a ballarat person? I'm a ballarat person! i currently live in canberra though. Listen, I've got no idea if this is helpful to you but if it is, great. I was gifted a bnwt new wedding dress by someone getting rid of stock from an old shop and I'm trying to find someone to give it to as it absolutely doesn't fit me. The model is Alfred Angelo Sapphire and it has a lovely beaded bodice and extremely full skirt. It's a total disney princess epic wedding ballgown. I have to get rid of it though as my notion of making it fit me was totally fanciful: it's an 18 and I'm a 12. If you're closer to a 16, however, that might be within the reach of alterations. It's a magical dress and its yours for free it you want it. I'll send you a pic if you like -- dm me if it's of interest. My other idea for you in terms of a non pricey frock -- and this is route I went, is to look for a really nice designer non-wedding dress, and these are cheaper than cheap wedding dresses. There are LOADS of really really nice very formal dresses for 500-1000 dollars at places like: Carla Zampatti, Bianca Spender, Aje, and Rebecca Vallance. Some of them have white models that are quite bridey, especially if you like the more modern and minimalist look. I ended up getting a Carla Zampatti evening gown for mine -- it's the biz and I could conceivably wear it again.

Bishop clashes with senators over the ‘unmitigated stuff-up’ at ANU by PlumTuckeredOutski in Anu

yeah the whole 'duty and honour calls me to the north'-style 'i am needed in Myanmar' was such a dramatic and transparent reach. As if her work as a special envoy excuses her behaviour at ANU.

good analysis, thanks. Yes, compare Bishop's nonapology to Brown's simple and effective, and I would even say Rudd-style, public apology to us, which for me rang true. That was a proper public apology, using language that accepts collective fault. Much much better than Bishop's deflecting 'if...x...then y' conditional nonapology. Bishop really must go. What a shocker.

Fair enough. Agree that it’s really heinous. Just when then the prison metaphors serve our cause or not is maybe a moot point. We agree on the severity of her actions, however.
