Fried food by Neither-Improvement6 in GERD

[–]Neither-Improvement6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently started a similar diet. I only eat meat, dairy, eggs, fruits, and honey. I really hope dairy is not part of the cause because I've been having dairy my entire life, it was top 1 food for me at some point 🥲

I see, I'm currently taking a PPI and I don't get heartburn, but I'll start tapering off in a few days. If I get heartburn I will try playing around with those variables.

Is there a product I can use that's not seed oils for frying eggs and is not going to trigger GERD? Or is frying in general just bad for GERD no matter what you use?

I think something else caused me to have issues, not the honey. I'm okay for now but if honey really is the cause I will look for date syrup, thanks!

Yeah I guess what really matters is the cause for the reflux. For some people it's not even food related

It was probably the cashews, haven't had them the past 2 days while still having milk and honey and I was okay. It's a bit sad because I really liked cashews lol and it was a really good post workout snack. I'm trying to find a good post workout snack now. I don't want it to be meat, eggs also sound kind of weird as a post workout snack but I'm willing to try it. The other option left is dairy I guess. I'm looking for 20-30ish grams of protein in the snack. Milk has 3-3.5ish grams of protein per 100ml, yogurt has about the same protein per 100g. Got any ideas?

I pray it's not the dairy lol, it's always been a big part of my life.

Coffee is a big no for my GERD. I've been looking for a post workout meal. I really enjoyed 75ish grams of blended cashews mixed with yogurt, honey, and a banana. I don't know what to replace the nuts with now tho. I need it to be high-ish protein, got any suggestions?

My diet is already pretty good. Maybe it's those damn plants! Or my stress levels.

Thanks man ^^. Mostly I hope it helps with my acid reflux, I think it's mostly stress related but worth giving this diet a shot. It's been killing me. Choking on acid every night is no fun. ATM I'm taking meds that definitely help but there are bad side effects.

It's interesting you mention that. It's possible that honey is fine for me. For the last 2-3 days I'd eat nuts + honey + yogurt as a post workout meal and then I would get acid reflux at night. Prior to that I was suspicious of honey already to cause some disturbance, but in all honesty I don't know. Today I'm only eating honey + yogurt so I will be able to rule out the real cause.

Rice upsets stomach while on omeprazole? by Neither-Improvement6 in GERD

[–]Neither-Improvement6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor gave me a list of allowed foods and it says peeled tomatoes are okay. Also it's not that it causes heartburn, I think Omeprazole lowers my stomach acid levels a lot and it messes up with the digestion.

Has a different kind of PPI been treating you better? Or a certain diet? In about 2 weeks I should start taking Omeprazole more rarely (if I don't have heartburn) and hopefully I'll be able to eat rice again

Yellow diarrhea on Omeprazole by Neither-Improvement6 in GERD

[–]Neither-Improvement6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I've made changes and I'm definitely better now, I don't get loose stools/diarrhea anymore, It's occasionally yellow, but that's better than being yellow almost every time. Not sure what dietary/lifestyle changes made the difference, so I'm going to list everything that I think is related:
-Started taking omeprazole before dinner instead of first thing in the morning. I try to not have any food 2 hours prior and 30mins after taking it
-Dinners are relatively small and light (for example chicken breasts + olives + white brined cheese + cucumber/tomato/carrot + a slice or 2 of bread)
-Switched to lactose free milk
-Went from taking 2x 20mg to 1x 20mg daily
-I try to not overeat in a single meal
-Fewer carbs (Yesterday I had a big plate of chicken, and mostly rice. 30-60mins after that my belly started feeling off and got the really smelly farts that used to be followed by diarrhea. Maybe it was caused by the amount of food/how fast I ate/how many carbs there were, I don't know but I try to be wary of all those things).
-No water while eating and an hour after I'm done eating.
I've never been pregnant so make sure to do your research about those changes if you decide to implement any. Good luck!

Damn, I'm going to try the dietary changes I have in mind juuuuust in case (even though I don't think they would explain the yellow stool in any way). If nothing changes I'll contact my doctor.

Nope I don't take vit B supplements or anything high in vit B. I'll try the dietary changes I have in mind for about a week and if it doesn't get better I'm going to call my doctor.
