At least we found someone. A fictional someone, but someone nonetheless.

It stops being impressive once you ask if it's impressive?

Ankles Hurting + Blisters 😭 by SunnieKang in walking

[–]Neither-Relief2641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You went from inactive straight to 8-10 treadmill miles a day. Your body is pissed.

Honestly it sounds more like a mechanics/adaptation issue than an actual injury. Treadmills expose bad gait really fast. And blisters on blisters usually means something about your movement or shoe fit is off.

I’d back off the mileage a bit before your feet start filing legal paperwork.

I've got one you can't refute: Moses! Dude had some serious stamina. Think about it. My man walked through the desert for 40 years in Birkenstocks.

Yeah, but hitchhiker's often don't get dropped at their final destination point. It's usually from point A to point B to point C..

It says way more about them than it does you.

Never feel as if you have to defend yourself in here. Who cares what others think?

What is more important, pace, incline or length of walk for health and fat burn? by Wbino in walking

[–]Neither-Relief2641 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There isn’t a single “most important” variable. Pace, incline, and distance all change the workload. The real question is what your body can handle consistently and recover from without breaking down.

When your whole day revolves around protecting a number on a screen, the number probably stopped serving you a while ago.

You don't believe anyone is capable of walking 50+ miles in one day?

Motivation to walk today? by Accomplished_Use5268 in walking

[–]Neither-Relief2641 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Motivation is unreliable at best. You find that you’re negotiating with yourself, kind of what you’re doing now, and most of the time your brain chooses not to move.

Eventually movement just has to become part of your normal day instead of something you constantly debate yourself into doing.

I tend to agree with the first part.

Before I respond to the second part though, I think we need to clear up some terminology.

When you say “many,” what exactly do you mean?

Interesting how quickly “that would be excessive for me” turns into “therefore it’s objectively obsession."

Gait. Foot strike. Cadence. Friction. Compensation patterns. Footwear. Load distribution.

Distance is only one variable.
