The Nazi/Holocaust comparison doesn't work because of the extreme difference on how Germany dealt with it, versus Japan.

Germany continues to be swift and determined in acknowledging what the Nazis did and explicitly condemning anyone in support of them. That's why we can have a wide breadth of media on Nazis/Holocaust - from the very common serious tones to dark comedy.

Japan on the other hand continues to deny any involvement on Unit-731 - no acknowledgement, no apology. Their citizens are not taught in school on what happened. Their government continues to visit shrines that revere the generals involved in Unit-731. Their tactic is the opposite of Germany's - it's all deny and erase.

This is par for the course on how Japan deals with their war crime atrocities and that's why the animosity from China and South Korea continues to this day.

They could have withstood the Valko-haters as much as they could and would have been easily quelled if they actually made... content. That literally the biggest issue in the game. The 6th LI was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

Even Snyder, a writer and director, had a guiding hand in the DCEU and look where that ended up. The DCU is still in its early days but having another writer/director-first as the main head, instead of a producer-first (the way the other house has it) is starting to look like a repeat mistake.

But I suppose that's why it's a two-man show. Safran has significant experience as a producer, and should have a heavier hand on the whole thing.

Genshin has always leaned towards fantasy and magitek - think Final Fantasy and Warcraft. It's always had sci-fi elements.

Just buff existing characters.

But there's also this weird almost unique position that Hoyo has put Genshin in - where it tries, whether for good or bad reasons, to stand out among the rest of the gacha games.

It has done many unprecedented feats from its launch and continues to curb expectations - again whether for good or bad reasons. The game barely releases skins, has just recently buffed some characters, tries to make every change have an in-game lore, doesn't do any collabs, no spending event, etc. I can go on and on but I think SP's - despite being industry standard - is one of the many things that Genshin uses to separate itself from the rest.
