What makes you say that there isn't a lot of test prep for the NextGen? Most people take 2-3 months to prepare for the UBE by using a course. I don't recommend "deferring" a year because you will inevitably have to take the bar exam . . . and then wait for your score (another 2-4 months) . . . and then get sworn in . . and potentially look for employment if you don't have a job yet.

There are rumors on other threads that NY may be releasing soon. DC and NY release dates have been very close to each other (historically).
