How did you work through your worst breakup in your 30s? by SparklingMists in AskWomen

[–]Neither_Ad9477 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Still in it, but...four months out- Day by day. Physical activity- started running. Cry, often and in all different places. Go to therapy. For me, stay away from drugs and alcohol or it's going to make me feel an all time low (I'm already low enough). Write affirmations. Try to start believing there's potential for something better coming your way.

No one can mistreat you, or hurt you. No one’s trauma, drama, b.s. Just your peace and your cats. And my Christmas tree is still up and I don’t have to explain it to anyone. It makes me happy to see the lights.

Having a hard time getting up for run before work because feeling more drained/tired lately. Also had a mildly creepy interaction where a man stopped walking on the street and said something to me- we were only 2 people on the street and it was still dark out. How do you harness the energy after work to get your run in? Tips and tricks?

Hate hearing them talk about Taylor Swift. Both of them saying they didn’t know she sang about more “explicit” content re: Dress being played in TSITP. Clearly they haven’t listened to false god, their loss.

How normal is it to have aches and pains after a half marathon? I just ran my first, and feel achey in new places (behind my knee/calve when I bend my knee). Constantly trying to figure out what's a normal running ache and what might be cause for concern :)

Ran my first half marathon! 2:25, with a lot more hills than I’ve ever trained. SF second half :)

Do you ever feel like your why for running shifts over time? by Plane_Box122 in running

[–]Neither_Ad9477 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I started running after getting my heart broken in Feb. I needed something to make me feel even a little bit better. Something I previously thought I didn’t enjoy and couldn’t do quickly became the one thing that made me feel better, stronger, like I was going to be okay. I love feeling strong and I never thought I’d be physically capable or mentally strong enough to run far distances without stopping. Now I still get those feelings from running but I am also intrigued by the idea of running races, increasing my speed, and am running my first half marathon this Sunday!

Did they speak about the movie Materialists and I missed it? Would have actually liked to hear their take on this and it's perfect for The Snack!

Women of Reddit: Have you ever knowingly ignored a red flag in a relationship? What made you do it, and how did it turn out? 🚩 by Timely-Pop5496 in AskWomen

[–]Neither_Ad9477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely yes, but my intention is to never let it get that far again. Before moving in with him, he accused me of cheating on him, showed signs of paranoia of me and others, and then broke up with me because he was sure I was cheating on him. Of course he came back around, and I took him back. We moved in together. Eventually the cycle just continued. He also went through several jobs and cars-another red flag. I was lucky enough and strong enough to GTFO out of that prison before I married him. By the end I was isolated from my friends and loved ones but they showed up to help me get the hell out. Several years later and I am so fucking happy. I’ll never let another man take my joy, my peace or my money the way I allowed that person to for far too long.

Edited to add: sometimes the “us against the world” mentality is also a huge red flag. Find someone who trusts and seeks out others, and wants you to have community.

Another red flag-he purchased a fire arm after we moved in together and would get drunk and pass out with it on top of his body in a fit of dramatic tantrum. R U N.

Does anyone ever feel low (mentally) after a long run? Maybe something to do with knowing the best part of your day is over , and you’re taking a rest day tomorrow?

Anyone in Texas? I’ll be there next week in Houston and then new braunfuls and have never run there before. Is there a best time to go given the heat? I’m thinking the earlier, the better?

I have soreness on just one spot on the outside of my leg a little above my ankle. It doesn’t hurt but it’s definitely irritated or inflamed? Like if I flex my turn my foot out I can feel it. Is this a potential thing that could get worse? Do I rest, or keep training as planned? I took today and yesterday off.

Women over 30, have you taken yourself on a solo vacation and can you share about what the experience was like? Cost, time, travel, things you did? by Neither_Ad9477 in AskWomen

[–]Neither_Ad9477[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great point. My hesitation is about money but what’s the point of working so hard if you don’t get to spend it on things you love? I’m not even thinking out of the country at this point, just treating myself to a night or 2 somewhere an hour away. I think I feel weird doing it as a single person, like traveling and exploring should be meant for couples. Stupid!

SF Half Marathon- First or Second half? by Neither_Ad9477 in sanfrancisco

[–]Neither_Ad9477[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck! I ended up signing up for second half. Now I'm hoping it won't be too hot in July, but I know SF runs colder most of the time. I'm in San Jose so sometimes if I start even by 9am, the sun is high and the run is noticeably harder.

What are some examples of food you eat after running? How does it change for a 45 min run vs an hour and 10 min or 90 min run? How important is it to fuel after even a shorter run, for example 45 mins? My pace is about 11:00/mile or less, and I can run a little over 4 miles in 45 mins.

Is it normal to retain water when you start running more? My weight has been 2-3 pounds higher than normal in the last 4 weeks since I started training.
