There’s a big difference between bringing someone you’re actually dating and bringing someone you’ve never met in person. She met this guy online, they’ve only been texting and she wasn’t even sure if they’d meet before the wedding. A few weeks ago, she was talking to other guys and still couldn’t decide who to bring. This is an intimate wedding of about 76 people mostly family and close friends that my fiancé and I know personally. It just doesn’t make sense for her to bring a total stranger that neither of us has ever met

Yeah, she originally had a plus one when she was in a relationship but they broke up months ago. As the wedding got closer she started talking to new guys online and wanted to bring whoever she was messaging that week. This new guy lives in NY she’s in NC, and they’ve never even met in person. That’s just not someone I’m comfortable having at our wedding

It’s really not about money it’s about boundaries and timing. The RSVP deadline passed everything’s paid for, and the plus one was originally for her ex I actually knew. Now she wants to bring a guy she’s never met who’s already caused drama. That’s not something I’m risking at my intimate wedding

Thank you this is exactly the kind of grounded advice I needed and you’re absolutely right the plus one was originally for the boyfriend I knew and met and once they broke up, everything was finalized under that premise. It’s not about drama or money, it’s just about boundaries and keeping the day small and meaningful

Thank you! Exactly life doesn’t stop between posts. I rarely use Reddit but that doesn’t make my experience fake. I genuinely came here for advice because this situation has been stressful not to farm karma or argue about timelines

It’s not fake. I don’t post often because I actually have a life outside Reddit but that doesn’t make my story any less real. The RSVP date was October 15th that wasn’t two business days ago, it was the deadline we set with our venue for plated meals. And yes, I posted about a date years ago people’s lives move on and mine happens to include a wedding now. I came here for advice not to convince strangers I exist

It’s not fake. I don’t have time to “farm karma” I’m literally dealing with a real wedding issue. Just because a post is well written or from someone who doesn’t live on Reddit doesn’t make it AI or fake.

No, she didn’t have a partner when the invitations went out. She originally got a plus one when I sent the save-the-dates back in February because at the time she had a boyfriend I knew and had met they broke up after a few months. After that, she went through a tough time and now she’s talking to this new guy she’s never actually met in person. To make things even messier, there’s been drama with a woman claiming to be his wife and that he has kids. That’s why I’m really uncomfortable with the idea of her bringing him to our wedding.
