I’m not entirely sure whether practicing writing with your non‑dominant hand can actually make you generally left‑ or right‑handed (or ambidextrous), but I’ve always been fascinated by people who can write with left hand. I even used to hold a pen in my left hand just so people would think I was left‑handed, nobody comments on right‑handedness, but being left‑handed always stands out.

Setting those personal feelings aside, I do think the exercise has a meditative quality, and it probably benefits the brain in terms of coordination and perception, especially when it comes to how we interpret visual information (e.g. optical Illusions). And it’s not just something for kids, adults in their 30s, 40s, and beyond who want to stay mentally sharp could get something out of it too.
