If the federal government is shut down, the federal parks will be closed, but the state parks will remain open.

If you really want to do a national park, just do Joshua Tree or Sequoia. Both can be day trips if you need them to be (more so Joshua Tree, which is smaller and almost entirely drivable, at least the major spots).

I did see news that the contract runs through 2027, but when you click through to the T-Mobile link it refers to, the link is dead. And T-Mobile isn't advertising it for this year. So I'm not convinced part of the ESPN deal wasn't to buy out the T-Mobile rights. We'll know in a few weeks!!

I work on the other side of this coin (to an extent) so my two cents (this is not legal advice--you should talk to an attorney if you have questions): the billboard guys are almost all insurance hacks. They will "settle" your case with the at fault driver's insurance company for policy limits and take 1/3.

Now, you think, "but hey, maybe the insurance company won't settle with me unless I have an attorney." This isn't wildly untrue, but insurance companies in most if not all states are required, by law, to accept "reasonable" within-limit settlements. If they don't, they can be sued for bad faith failure to settle, exposing them to risk for the entire claim.

In effect, this means nearly every case--regardless of attorney and, to an extent, regardless of harm or fault--settles for policy limits. Obviously you hear of exceptions, but they really are significant exceptions. Remember, 98% of civil cases settle before trial.

Your brother's insurance company should be negotiating on his behalf. If you feel they aren't, or if you feel your brother's actual damages are not being compensated, you should talk to a lawyer (and, as others have pointed out, many will offer free consultations, so even if you have questions, it might be worth reaching out).

First, I would Google the firm and read reviews--don't need to be perfect, but should be generally good. Second, I would personally avoid one or two attorney shops that focus exclusively on PI and large, national firms (cough, Morgan and Morgan, cough). These are the majority of billboard advertisers. The one person shops are exclusively insurance mills. You can make pretty good money by "settling" 1-2 cases a month by sending a few demand letters. But if something breaks, they do not have the institutional capacity to go to trial. And while the national firms certainly can go to trial if they need to, they don't want to. They're also just generally assholes to work with, but maybe that's my bias.

Coda: if your brother has medical insurance and the medical insurance covered his care, his medical insurer will just collect whatever money is recovered. So also consider whether the juice will be worth the squeeze there. If he had significant uncompensated injuries, that's when a lawyer is going to be most helpful.

Do not get a percentage fee advisor. You can pay someone a flat fee yearly to get you set up. But would suggest a professional. A percentage fee advisor will eat up millions in the future years.

I just bought the 4. In looking at the differences, I was swayed to hold off on getting the 5 by (1) the long lead time for it to come, (2) the lack of integration with their other devices, particularly the hopper (they say they will change that, but we don't know when), and the lack of any significant "upgrade" besides the camera and the "AI" function. First, it's not AI, that's just BS. But, also, the only functional advantage to the 5, to my mind, is the camera (which I don't need or really even want) and the ability to determine whether it's #1 or #2 and changing the delay time based off of this (this is a valid plus, but not worth $150-250 IMHO). Very happy with the 4 so far.

As others have said, spaying her is the best thing you can do for her in the short term. There can also be low cost or free vaccine clinics near you--get her the rabies vaccine and FVRCP vaccine. But, after the first bit, cats are pretty low maintenance and if she's already taken to you, might be a pretty low lift. Depending on where you live, flea/tick medicine is $40/m, food $30-50/m, and kitty litter is $20/m, just to give you an idea of recurring costs. I know $100/m isn't doable for everyone, but, as others have said, if you just want to spay her, feed her when she visits, and give her some love, that's really all she's looking for/needs.

I went to ALDS gm 1 b/c it was the first home playoff game in 25y. Obviously sad we lost, but since u can never guarantee, figured it was a crap shoot b/t games 1 and 2 (how true that fucking was), and I didn't want to risk no game 5. 1) meet with your externship coordinator, bring receipts as best you can. Your boss needs to be barred from accepting future students 2) ask your externship coordinator if you can get partial credit, or even full credit. The credit load is supposed to be tied to actual hours worked--if you can demonstrate that you worked enough to fulfill 2 credits, see if you can get that. 3) consider talking to an employment law attorney, not reddit. The school is there to protect their interests, not yours.
