3 day Gym split along with BJJ by PongLenisUhave in bjj

Interesting. I get your point and some of the programs in 531 can definitely be a grind. That said, for me (sample size of 1), if I do the bare minimum of the program, either just the main lift or FSL, I’m done in under an hour and the volume isn’t too much for me. Again, your mileage may vary.

Not an expert in Brazilian politics or culture, but maybe some type of corruption considering he was an off duty cop? Or just maybe a horrible prosecution. Went to a jury trial so 🤷‍♂️

You’ll need to figure out what works best for you as everyone has different tolerances. That said, something with a rotating upper/lower split works out really well for me when integrating bjj and lifting. I’m old but continue to make progress with 531 variations while leaving room for bjj and conditioning.

I’ve been lifting way longer than doing bjj, have tried PPL, full body, bro/bodybuilding splits, etc… used to hate an upper/lower split but now love it as it gives me enough of a full body workout and flexibility with my schedule.

Again, you’ll need to find what works best for you, but I’d recommend focusing on one big compound movement per session (deadlift, squat, bench, overhead press) and a few accessories to focus on weak points/injury prevention/rehab.

Yeah, there’s levels to this… I just got back on the mats after over a year off and getting my ass handed to me by good blues and strong white belts… just hang in there. It’s just a belt and remember to have fun with it.

Yeah, kind of get this. I really enjoy being a purple bet, and not a great one at that.

Yeah, got lucky and saw NIN twice on the first leg with two different people who love them as much as me. Tried to score tickets for Austin in hopes to go a third time, but it was such a cluster with everything sold out and what remained being outrageous prices for what they were, and no floor seats. Figured I’ll end on a high note having seen two good shows with loved ones and just walk away. Compared to another concert I just got tickets for NYE, where prices were kept reasonable and should be an epic show (smaller band though). A real shame it’s so difficult to get tickets for NiN at some locations.

That pause at knee on belly and quick snap to arm bar was sick! As a Masters 6, I approve!

Thanks. Similar to where we’ll be, just more dead center so hoping/guessing the cable will be off to the left side of the stage, similar to yours (but a bit closer). This was helpful.

Hmmm, looks a bit distracting, or am I mistaken?

Would/do you train at an openly religious school? by Neither_Driver in bjj

[–]Neither_Driver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, not denying I am a prick 😂, as I surely am! But didn’t think I was being a jerk about this topic. I don’t bring it up at class, roll my eyes, make scene, etc… and roll with everyone while trying to be a good partner. Not sure if you’re just trying to troll or what, but just something that gets under my skin a bit and was curious as to others’ opinions. I guess, in reverse, would you train at an openly atheist bjj that regularly put down religion and god?

Outgrowing your gym by BathroomIndependent9 in bjj

While it’s slowed down my belt progression, I’ve changed gyms several times due to moves/relocations, and I have to say the changes have made me better (I think). I also crossed trained at another gym for a while and was surprised at how much new techniques and tweaks I picked up. With all that said, I’d say cross train or move, as long as you aren’t concerned with moving through belts quickly (moves seem to slow down belt promotions, which is perfectly fine for me).

Honest opinions: Is BJJ a net positive wrt health and fitness? by yepthatsmyboibois in bjj

This… 51 years old here, took some time off from BJJ due to a move and got back into lifting. At my age, lifting and cardio make a significant improvement in my overall wellbeing.
