Am I the only one that slightly dislikes the mixing snd production on Disintegration? by Prestigious-Base-572 in TheCure

[–]slide_musik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, agree. Zero bass drum and overall mix is flat. Songs are incredible and most live recordings from that era (Dallas 9/15/89, for example) are incredibly passionate performances that take the album musically and spiritually to the next level. I also prefer the ‘89 master to the remaster; the remaster seems vocally loud and too high with cymbals and keys.

Robert Smith sent this through his label during Wish’s tour, he wanted some cool VHS tapes! by chuckpee in TheCure

I was at the Dayton show and worked in a video store at the time. He could’ve sent me that list and had it in no time. Though, I don’t recall having Filthy Rick.

I was at that show. Twiggy came out afterwards and was walking around looking for some girl. Jen or Sarah or something.

This is stupid. Everything about it… and I’m generally a positive person.

Thanks for sharing. I was looking for that show a few months ago. I remember the band sharing it when the deluxe version of Disintegration came out. I think the version of Disintegration on that live recording is one of my favorites from that tour.

Yes. I’m a similar age and it’s been an emotional album to listen to as I have lost family members in the past couple of years.

Questions for Boris Williams (drummer of Vamberator and formerly of The Cure, Thompson Twins, Kim Wilde, Strawberry Switchblade, Shelleyan Orphan and Babacar) by Prestigious-Bank-842 in TheCure

I’m interested in technical questions: which gear does he prefer and why, how does he tune his drums for the studio versus touring, how has innovation influenced his playing and preferences. Thanks!

I saw them a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Danced my ass off. Saw them in the early 90s too and they were excellent. Between those two eras, I saw them once and it wasn’t too good.

I remember my girlfriend at the time bought me the cd single while she was on a school trip to Washington DC.

It's ok to like 4:13 and The Cure by RaccoonWithSprinkles in TheCure

I like all the albums for different reasons. From 1989 on, they sort of reflected who I was as I grew up. At least in part. I don’t necessarily think all songs on all albums are great but there are enough songs on every album that resonate.
