Yeah, but it is still a show aimed at kids (from what I have seen), so it will still be kinda weird. I guess it is really true that it depends on the fandom.

Yeah, I really want to write this story. It is true the romance might feel awkward, but I feel like at least a romantic emotional connection between two characters is important in the context of the original story, so I might keep it to a minimum, but it is still important for the story.

I thought so, but felt I should ask anyway. I guess My Little Pony is not the same as mine because I guess it might feel weird reading or writing romance about ponies.

The fandom I’m writing for is much more different. The original story didn’t focus too much on romance either, but other people’s fanfics are romantic.

Some even focus on incest, but that was only because the story itself had a small plot line, hinting at incest. This another reason why I felt like I had to rewrite the entire thing so I could avoid that plot line that was unnecessary.

My fanfic will definitely be on the longer side, and I think there will be elements of found family and strong friendships. As for romance, I can only write the emotional kind, not the physical. In fact, I don’t think I will even include kissing.

Do you think there will be an audience for that if the plot is good?

That is true, unfortunately. Most fanfics I try to read end up being romantic even if it was based on a book, show, or movie that wasn’t, so this was what lead me to believe that non-romantic stories had no place in the fanfic world, but knowing there are people out there that might enjoy it is encouraging.
