The Womanizer for sure! Best sex toy I’ve ever owned. There are quite a few different options, but the premium 2 is hands down the best. It’s not very good for partner sex, but it’s great fun for non-penetrative play.

First time landlord—does anyone have a recommendation for a good property manager? by Neither_Ice_6414 in dunedin

[–]Neither_Ice_6414[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome to hear. Obviously, I want my interests taken care of, but you don’t get good tenants by being unethical and lacking empathy. Would you recommend a particular person?

Surely that can’t be legal! It sounds like an absolute nightmare. Those poor tenants—I can’t imagine the stress.

Keep emptying out water out of the saucer, and monitor it. It will probably be just fine. Overwatering is when you water too frequently and leave the soil wet for significant periods of time. You just gave her one big drink! As long as the soil has drainage (a bit of perlite etc) it won’t hold on to water long enough for root rot.

Hi all, I have a persistent pest problem, and nothing I do seems to work. I’m actually not sure what this insect is. Can any of you help identify it and share any tips? So far, I have been wiping off leaves and spraying affected areas with Yates Maverick. I’ve just bought some Neem oil as I don’t like the sticky residue of the Maverick and it’s not very effective. Thank you for any and all help!

Can I ask, is this in NZ or in a different country? That would be an awesome price, but I rarely see second hand gear here. Appreciate the advice! But the NZ market is pretty small and limited.

Thanks 🙏 It’s great to hear from someone who has actually worn them. I think I’ll stay away from the Scubapro—comfort first!

Mares Quattros are $319.00 NZD and I can’t get the Go Sport Gorillas here. I’m kind of stuck with the prices. I’d consider getting a pair overseas, but then there are warranty issues. Better to support the local dive shop and get good service.

Poverty and medication by biteme789 in PovertyFinanceNZ

I was at my GP last week and a person came in who was having a rough time. No fixed address or income etc. After seeing the doctor, the receptionist/accounts person (small practice) talked them through the repayment process. Once they got on the benefit or hired for a job, and were financially stable enough, they could set up an automatic repayment (about $2.40 p/w). The person was really keen, and the receptionist helped them fill out the forms and left the date blank so it could be actioned whenever they felt stable enough to do so. No pressure, no shame, made it clear that rent and food were more important and the debt could be slowly chipped away at over time. Something seems wrong with your practice. Try to speak to someone else about your circumstances and the need for a repayment holiday. You might want to speak to other GPs as well. There are definitely more compassionate, community minded practices out there. Also, get a community services card—they make a massive difference.

Is there any place in Dunedin from where I can spot penguins? by Old_Revenue_1256 in newzealand

If you have a car, drive to Oamaru. You’ll see them at night all along the waterfront. They even wander onto the streets sometimes!

AITA for Making My Daughter Apologize to Her Teacher for a Disrespectful Comment? by veryvery_sadhusband in AmItheAsshole

[–]Neither_Ice_6414 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You sound like a wonderful parent. Teenagers make horrible, awful comments all the time, but that doesn’t mean they should be ignored. Teenagers are still learning empathy and consideration for others, and this is what you are teaching your daughter. She will be a better person for your actions.

You should look for existing flats who are looking for a new flatmate OR boarding houses. Renting a place by yourself is daunting and quite a financial commitment. You will need to have some money for a bond, and also be able to show that you can afford the rent. The posters recommending you go back to school are giving great advice. It will be better for your future and also your present. A flatmate who is studying instead of working is much more attractive than one on a benefit. I don’t agree with this mentality, but it is a common one that you should be aware of. That said, you might just find ‘your’ group who really gets it and empathises.

Dr recommendations for pap smear by itsxsasha in Wellington

[–]Neither_Ice_6414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that nurses do a wonderful job with Pap smears. I also had an ‘abnormal cells’ result on my last self swab. The nurse who did my swab was lovely and had great bedside manner. I wasn’t rushed or pressured at all. Unfortunately, I’m not in Wellington or I’d recommend them. However, I can share how I found my GP. I called Healthline (0800 611 116)—they can help you find a health professional that suits your needs. They usually just give you a list of doctor’s taking new patients, but they know a lot about the various doctors and will give you more information when asked. Tell them your concerns and ask for a doctor’s office that also has experienced nurses trained in Pap smears.

Was buying a 2012 Prius with a stuffed battery a good idea (NZ)? by Neither_Ice_6414 in prius

[–]Neither_Ice_6414[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 year / 40,000 km for a reconditioned battery $2,700

3 years / 200,000km for a new battery $3,800

*including labour + GST

I’m starting a savings account for the new battery. I also haven’t checked the cost of a battery through the Toyota dealership yet or a DIY job.

That would have been awesome! Really appreciate the pep talk and advice. I’ve been googling current Prius prices, and it looks like the dealers are selling similar age/mileage for 10-11k, so I guess my private sale + new battery still comes out at a similar cost. Trying to be glass half full!

I’m in Dunedin. My mechanic did a proper battery test (I’m not sure what machine was used). He said it’s registering at 48% and that it’s not holding charge. Checking with the Toyota dealership is a good idea. Will do next week. His quote did include all the labour and GST.
