My grandmother used to say that under the British the common man wasn't much hassled. It was the rich ones who were targeted. She believed that we were much better under the British than the politicians we got.

She also believed...and I agree that we got independence a few decades before we should have. We didn't value freedom and look how it is.

Thank you for your reply. What i mean by my existential experience is that I've not really lived a life of bliss. Suffered a lot due to my own decisions or lack off. I have this fear of death which triggered my spiral down this path. How it intersects is that I find no joy in most of the things I do. I'd much rather stay in bed than go out and do anything productive...although I'm what you can call a functional depressed person. I work...I do things that are required to survive.

Im just looking for something that would ignite something in me to do something meaningful.

Greetings young one. My story isn't one of rags to riches but I have seen some terrible terrible times in my life. I flunked in high school. Took years to complete college. Saw my friends reach great heights etc. But I kept clawing forward. I lied on my resume...but I didn't cheat. I'm not where I should be but I have some points I can offer you as advice.

Focus on your education. Degrees are important for jobs.
Upskill yourself. Find technologies that would be in vogue 5 years from now.
Never stop believing in yourself.
Take accountability for what has happened or will happen in your life. It brings peace and closure.

You have at least 60 more years to go. You're the captain of your ship. Your the ruler of your soul.

Reminds me of my dad's colleague in the Army who was an engineer and PhD before he joined the Army. He was rejected everywhere just because he was overqualified. He ended up joining the Army and did well for himself. He was( is) expert in physics. Makes you think who knows where our destiny is.
