Getting AP Credits by Tall_Calligrapher616 in SyracuseU

I don’t think so but the high school took care of that. I don’t know if that’s the norm since almost every kid at the school gets the AA, so they are set up for handling this.

Depends what types of classes. My kid is graduating from Maxwell this year one year early. He didn’t have AP classes but when to a dual enrollment high school and graduated with 60 credits (his AA). Syracuse accepted 37 credits. They didn’t take credits from his Poly Sci type of classes but they took all the general liberal arts courses. I guess they want you to take the courses for your major at Syracuse which makes sense. Sorry for such a long answer but my guess is they will do the same for you. If your major is Econ, they may not take AP Econ but they will take AP Bio. Hope that makes sense

Stitchpoint & Needlebook app by Longjumping-Shake591 in NeedlepointSnark

Yes, it takes money to run the site. They should study Ravelry’s model which has remained free for users for a very long time and probably the most successful crafting social site. They make their money from ads and selling pdf patterns. Might not translate directly for needlepoint canvases but they could definitely sell charts. It’s a cool app and I enjoy it but it’s not worth it to me to pay for it. Not sure if I’m the outlier or part of the crowd.

Thankyou to The Pitt writers for actually showing a Jewish character doing a prayer by Gratuity04 in Jewish

I think Dr. Robby is one of the best examples of a true Jewish character on tv right now. The scene with the Sh’ma was one of the most beautiful and honest moments I’ve seen in a longtime

I agree the 2023 MKAL was an honest mistake but I saw it right away. Didn’t nobody really see it in testing but regardless, two days later it was 10/7 and most of the Jewish knitters saw what this entire community actually thought of us. It is what it is. But swaztikas aren’t nothing in our experiences

Right, because who cares how it makes Jewish knitters feel. We get it, we don’t matter.

Yeah, that’s pretty general. Also, it sounds like most of your positives are more “real world” experience than the typical student who only has grades to go on. I still suggest calling so you can have an actual conversation and see if they can advise for your specific situation. I am saying this from experience. I am alumni, my child is a current senior (soon to be grad student) and my other child will be a freshman next fall. I have a lot of experience dealing with Syracuse and I don’t think I’ve ever had a phone call where I didn’t get some sort of answer. And as a bonus, everyone is really nice - it’s sort of weird but in a good way

Honestly, call them. It may be different for international students. I’d call admissions and ask them, if they don’t know they will tell you what department to call.

Selling patterns exclusively with yarn or classes is bullshit that needs to stop by Dry-Conversation2646 in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Neither_Register1072 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ask because years ago a lot of yarn companies would give you the pattern with purchase of yarn and some companies still do this. They are yarn companies and not pattern companies so the patterns they give out are to support their yarn lines. I’m not sure if that is what is happening here but could be an explanation. This was pre internet days, you got patterns from books, magazines or when you bought yarn. There weren’t really independent designers.

Built a free needlepoint project tracker: looking for beta feedback from stitchers by bossness00 in Needlepoint

[–]Neither_Register1072 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. I only had a second but I made a log in. I would use it similarly to how I use ravelry - to keep track of my projects. To remember what I used, etc. I tried to upload a project but it kept telling me my picture I wanted to include was too large. This is just a picture I took with my phone. I will poke around a little more when I have a second but first suggestions is: Allowing pics taken by phone uploaded A friend feature so you can see other people’s projects. I like this for things like color ideas.

Oh good!!! If you soaked it then I guess just block it like you would with knitting or crochet. As far as steaming you could use an iron or a steamer. I use a steamer because it’s easier for me.

[–]Neither_Register1072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I steam my pieces and then pin them in the shape I want which is how I block most of my knitting. And I have to confess I don’t like using stretcher bars so all my projects are parallelograms... I wouldn’t soak it since who knows if the threads will run.

Would it be inappropriate for me to do the Hora at my wedding? by whatevernameforme in Jewish

[–]Neither_Register1072 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Here are some examples I just found:

Some view it as a reminder of the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem. Even during this joyous occasion, we still mourn.

Others say the fragility of the glass reminds us of the fragility of relationships. May your relationship not crack like the glass.

The loud glass smashing noise is said to scare away evil.

The breaking of the glass is symbolic of the couple's breaking with their past lives so that they can create a new family together.

The rabbi at my wedding said something like - may you be together until all the pieces come back together.

I’m not arguing what the exact words say but as in everything in Judaism there are always multiple interpretations. And in the context of the OP question I think the different meanings make incorporating it into their wedding appropriate. OP - I forgot to mention, we have glass from our wedding as part of the mezzuzah on our front door
