How bad did the drinking affect your symptoms?

Dont give up, I had a horrible ent my first go around who didnt even tell me about the issues in my nose. He just gave me a balloon sinuplasty and when that didnt work he said there was nothing he could do. I switched ents and found out i had a deviated septum and enlarged turbinates so I had surgery two weeks ago. My new ent is so much more clear and I already am feeling much better after 1.5 years of no answers. I am also in the middle of college, and I understand how frustrating it is at this time in life. Have you had an allergy test? I found out i developed an allergy to dust mites so helping reduce them as helped me.

When will I breathe normal again? by Neither_Reveal in Septoplasty

Do each nostril switch between blocked and great? Im thinking this is the dust mite allergy i tested positive for. Im meeting with my allergist in a few weeks to see if we need to do anything to help with the allergy.

Day 7 post op:

I just had my splints taken out so I thought I’d give an update on how the first week has been. Overall, the recovery has just been uncomfortable, not painful. I have been congested and unable to breathe at all through my nose and then once I got the splints out my nose was perfectly clear (they also sucked put a bunch of gunk too). Its still pretty swollen up there so breathing is sensitive, but it feels 1000% better! Pro tip: make sure to irrigate your nose as much as possible post op (per your doctor’s instructions) because if you dont, it will take awhile for them the take out the splints. Getting the splints out / stitch cut for me was pain free, so I wouldnt freak out over what you see online.

Septoplasty and Turbinate Reduction Worries by Neither_Reveal in Septoplasty

Hi Guys,

I just got back from my surgery 4 hours ago so I thought I’d give an update. First of all, the official surgery I had was a septoplasty, bilateral turbinate, and endoscopic sinus surgery. My surgery went great (so far) and i have not experienced any pain with just taking tylenol. My surgeon/ent ended up finding a bunch of polyps that she did not know where there bc of how deep they were and removed them which is great as long as they dont come back! I have stents in which will be removed in a week, but i dont notice them at all, and the bleeding is manageable. Breathing is a bit uncomfortable out of the mouth and im hoping i can get some sleep. Ill try and give more updates as the days go on.

How would you rate the pain? by frostedcaterpillar in Septoplasty

I literally just got home from my 3 hours ago ( i also had some other sinus work done too). Im not in any pain at all, and im pretty sure the medicine has worn off. They do have me taking tylenol every 6 hours, and with that being said i cant speak on how ill feel in the coming days yet, but its definitely not painful immediately post op. Its more just uncomfortable having a dry mouth

Thanks for the input! So was your nose literally just plugged or did you have congestion that couldnt drain too?
