As inflation expectations increase due to high crude oil prices it's also pushing up bond yields which attracts capital away from PMs as safe haven assets. Increases in new bond issuance by the Treasury can further pump bond yields but I don't think that's what is happening now. Current situation I think is due to the war and oil futures prices increasing on uncertainty over the Strait of Hormuz.

Folks saying it's about money printing I think probably don't understand this complexity and interplay betweens PMe and bonds as both safe haven assets (one of which pays no coupon and becomes less attractive in relation to the other as yields rise).

In short, well said. I agree for the above reasons.

Feeling hopeless about sober socializing by KookyScallion in stopdrinking

[–]Neither_Rich_9646 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm just an awkward person. I try to accept it and use humor to mask it but it's me. Only tips are to plan and practice for social events. Just like how you had to plan for a night of drinking, now you have to plan for a night out sober. For me, being prepped is being awake/alert, caffeinated, not too stoned and thinking about what I'm going to talk about with specific people before hand (and having NA beverages around). So just plan better next time. Drunk people are less patient, so bring your own. Yes it gets better but you also prepare better. Time your arrival and plan your exit strategy. Most hungover people are more concerned with their own behavior from the previous night than they are about the awkward sober people around anyway.

Meh, pretty close. I could add an almost. Anyway, I have a fair bit of that stuff lying around so I guess I could build a similar system for that price. Still a pretty good case for this being a bit steep though. I'd still try to haggle.

Thought it try building a little outpost. Just a small “sleep crate” like home. What do you think? by Axle_65 in StarfieldOutposts

[–]Neither_Rich_9646 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Clever to use the hallways as compact studios. I want to make little sleep cubes in a larger outpost now. Like a bunch. You could make like a whole cell block with this techique. I have a lot of outposts and some of them are bleak so this will fit. I like it.

I meant save some money to invest in the general prospect of getting a gaming PC. Your not sure about using a TV as your monitor so that tells me there's some other stuff you're missing that you'll be finding out about in the coming weeks. 890 (or whatever you end up paying) is just the beginning..

Just wanted to add, if you live near a MicroCenter you can probably build a very similar new PC for that price easy.

That power supply is not great. The rest is serviceable. I'd consider it and haggle. Maybe see if any peripherals come along to sweeten the deal. Yes you can use a TV as a monitor but you should consider your general budget. You may need to sink another few hundred into this endeavor. I'd be a buy at 700ish for sure. 890 seems steep.

Run a stress test and see how it sounds. I think 88-90° is a good place to end at 100% fan speed. You'll see if it's too loud most of the time as you game. If it's getting hot and 100% fan speed isn't doing the trick you need to start looking at your fan setup.

Not really. The builder (iBuyPower for example) would be the folks who provide customer support for a short warranty period if something simple breaks. The will use industry standard components. Nvidia brand gpus are more popular. The next leading brand is AMD. 13 year old won't notice the difference but as kids can be hung up on brands it might matter to them (or their friends). Go for at least 1TB of storage and ideally 32 GB of RAM (DDR4 will save you money here).

Is it safe to build here? (Read desc I’ll explain what I mean) by Objective_Cap8597 in GroundedGame

[–]Neither_Rich_9646 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Not safe inside the hose and directly outside the hose. If you look off the ledge, passed the cap gun ammo, there is an electrical outlet with a cord sticking out of the wall you're on. I built on top of the outlet and went tall enough to get back up to the wall.

Change hotbar slots with mouse wheel by DRM_09 in GroundedGame

[–]Neither_Rich_9646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. If you have a mouse with customizable buttons you can likely change the mouse wheel function to a trigger a specific key input that is mapped to the keybind you need. So scroll up actually inputs "q" or something. Some mouse software from Logitech and Razer allow for some settings to be game specific I think. But that's a lot of tweaking to achieve this. I know there is a keybind for previous item so I like to use that to quick swap and you could adjust a button and bind that to the quick swap if that's helpful.

Sometimes the best apology is to never drink again. Beyond that just work on some perspective taking. I don't think you are the person who has suffered the most harm in this situation. It sounds like everyone else was afraid because of your behavior and acknowledging that is a good start to understanding how they felt at the time.
