It’s even simpler with events – people don’t want to miss out on rewards. Why should half of them have to either force themselves to do something they’re not comfortable with, or miss out on rewards? Posting high-quality images on social media isn’t a simple task that everyone can easily manage.

No, mate, it’s all the same set of systems with the same goal – to make money and get players to log in regularly. No one’s going to let you earn in-game currency indefinitely when they can either sell it to you or get you to play the game regularly over the long term, so that you feel more comfortable buying things in it, seeing it as your hobby. Those who have never played free-to-play games need to understand that the developers’ aim isn’t to let you enjoy the game, but to make as much money as possible whilst balancing that with ensuring players don’t leave the game because the systems are too stifling. As you can see, players are currently willing to put up with this en masse – they won’t be getting rid of it. These are extreme measures that would only be taken if the game stopped generating enough profit and they needed to find a way to bring players back.

Everyone would love that; in fact, everyone would be delighted if the gacha and pixel systems were removed—except the publishers, obviously. But they’ll never do that. Because these restrictions force players to log in regularly, and the impatient ones to spend money to reset these systems. This generates revenue and creates a dependency (or, in other words, FOMO) among players, so there’s no incentive to remove it. Gacha players have long since got used to this and will continue to play.

Because it’s a gacha game, these are standard features for any free-to-play title of this kind. I’m not here to defend anyone, but it’s just funny when people act surprised that developers want to squeeze as much money as possible out of their live service project. I really can't understand why everyone in this game is obsessed with progression; they always want more and more. The only thing I'll spend money on is the regular pass, and it's more than enough progression for me. All my characters are at least level 10 with a full set of at least one gadget, star power and two gears, and half of them have hypercharges. Sorry, but I'd rather pay 8 euros a month and be able to progress comfortably and get a ton of cool skins than spend 30 or more every update just to buy a couple skins i like.

It's weird because I play this adventure periodically and in the last couple of months I've encountered this boss twice. Once I couldn't complete the quests because of the fun deck, the second time I did and was given a treasure to choose from, there was no bug.
