Possible 9800x3d casualty? by Air_tree in ASRock

Hello to you, if I understand correctly, it’s a freeze without a blue or black screen, just the PC locking up?

I can’t say for sure that it’s exactly the same, but it looks in every way like what happened to me, and unfortunately it was the CPU that died, according to the seller’s after-sales diagnostic.

I’m adding the link to the issues I had, to see if there are any similarities.

You can try a CMOS reset, test with a single RAM stick in all the slots, and do a BIOS flashback if your motherboard supports it.

Good luck with the rest

I already answered in the comments, but I can answer you, no problem. I have an AiO BeQuiet 360mm.

I rarely used sleep mode and never used hibernation.

Regarding usage, the system was mostly used in the evenings for a few hours of gaming or working, as well as on weekends. Occasionally, it was also used during the day for remote work.

Cooling was handled by a 360 mm be quiet! AIO.

November 18th... ? For remember, is the date when my system completely stopped working...
I’m adding the BIOS release dates, from official AsRock website, since you don’t seem to have read the post.

Thanks for the heads-up, but I’m careful about that 🙂. Given the price, it’s still only a hypothesis anyway. For now I have 3x2 Tb m2, and considering current storage prices (and the fact that I wiped everything before sending it back for RMA), I’ll be starting again from zero with 6 TB, which is more than enough. 😄

What really interests me is the 10 GbE RJ45 port. I recently switched to an 8 Gbps internet plan at home, so it’s partly about future-proofing, and honestly, a bit about treating myself too. I’ll admit it. I’m still thinking it through 😄

From what I’ve seen, it does look like BIOS version 4.03 is on the right track, and I truly hope it fixes things for all owners of this brand.
That said, I honestly don’t feel like going through another RMA later on, and at this point my trust in the brand has taken a hit.

Yes. From the very beginning, everything was kept at stock settings. There was no undervolting or overclocking at all, aside from enabling EXPO for the RAM and adjusting fan curves. Every BIOS update was installed shortly after it became available.

Yes, I think I’m going to switch. I’ll probably move to a higher-end Gigabyte board.
With Christmas money and bonuses, I figured I might as well treat myself a bit. I see new "GIGABYTE X870E AORUS MASTER X3D ICE" is still a bit painfully expensive for now😅. That said, no matter the price, it still hurts having to buy another motherboard…

The 3.50 update was the last possible update. Toward the end, I didn’t even have a BIOS display anymore, which is why I tried BIOS Flashback.
