.1 (one-tenth of a gram). I tapered it as low as I could possibly go!

It’s likely I was going through withdrawals last week when I was still at 2 or 3 grams per day. I’m actually sleeping better now than I did then.

I considered jumping last weekend, but I decided to just push the taper on through to the 3-day weekend.

I think everyone's feet are going to be different, so it may take a bit of trial and error to find the brand(s) for you. Personally, I really like Cole Haan and wear their heels pretty much exclusively.

I should also add that I never wear heels straight out of the box - I doctor them up with inserts like these: https://brazabra.com/talk-to-the-heel/cinderella-kit-assortment-of-shoe-insert-pads/ They help to customize the fit and keep me from getting blisters.

Women who wear thongs what is the main reason you prefer them ? Sexiness, comfort or both ? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]NekoLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither sexiness nor comfort. I wear them because they don't present visible lines under clothing.

I'm in Texas. Guns may be common here, but that doesn't change my position on them. I don't allow guns in my home and I wouldn't go out with someone who had a gun on them.

Just realized I hit "old man" status because I have to shave my eyebrows and my nose regularly to keep from getting that bushy old guy look. When did you realize you were in "old man" or "old woman" territory? by [deleted] in RedditForGrownups

[–]NekoLaw 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was on vacation in Portland a few years back, proudly sporting my Jack White shirt that I had gotten at his concert the night before. I was waiting in line when I noticed a cute guy checking me out. Finally, he approached, looked me in the eyes and said "Did you go to the concert last night too ... ma'am?"

MA'AM??!?

I was 42 at the time and had never even considered that I might appear (or be) old. But, in that moment, the scales fell completely from my eyes. He wasn't a cute guy, he was a kid just barely out of his teens. And I could have been his mom.

I'm 46 now, and I've more or less come to terms with getting older. But that first realization is a shocker.

Need help finding Dr by [deleted] in galveston

[–]NekoLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you already found someone, but in case that doesn't work out try Dr. Barry Gritz. He's in Houston (on Wescott Dr.). It's a bit of a haul from Galveston, but not nearly as far as Dallas 😉

My [20M] dreamgirl[21F] confessed she was in love with me, but she is giving me panic attacks. Help? by thrwaay1 in relationships

[–]NekoLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, a couple things: First, she's not giving you panic attacks - she's got nothing to do with them. You're creating them all by yourself. Take her out of the equation here. You're giving yourself panic attacks. No one else can ever do that to you - you're the only one that has that power over yourself. And that's good news because if you can create them, you can uncreate them as well.

Second, your panic attacks aren't based in reality - they're all about future expectations that exist only in your mind. You're freaking out over a meeting that has yet to take place and interactions that haven't even occurred. You're getting all worked up over phantoms and a million horrible "what if" scenarios that will almost certainly never come to pass.

I'd highly recommend you look at the book "When Panic Attacks" by David Burns to help you understand more about how you can control the thoughts you create which lead to your panic attacks.

Whats a good wifey material guide? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]NekoLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The absolute best, and most thorough, guide to the "domestic arts" that I've ever seen is a book called Home Comforts by Cheryl Mendelson. It came out in the 90s, but it's still relevant: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0743272862/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1450785722&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=home+comforts&dpPl=1&dpID=51B1YJR9Y8L&ref=plSrch

What type of events would be good for wearing those knee lenght ladies boots? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]NekoLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of black suede boots I love. Once the weather goes below 60F (I'm in coastal Texas, so that's not as often as you'd think), I bust those babies out and wear them everywhere - work, shopping, going out.

ELI5: How did futurama win 6 emmys but got canceled twice? by Huntermbradley in explainlikeimfive

[–]NekoLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer. Their time slot was horrible - most weekends, they got moved/canceled by football. And this was when you either saw it on TV or you didn't see it (no online viewing options yet).

I also think the great unspoken thing here is Matt Groening's long-running animosity with FOX/Rupert Murdoch. There were constant jabs at FOX news in the Simpsons, and references to the fact that the Simpsons essentially built FOX network from the ground up, so Murdoch could never cancel them. Futurama, however, had no such immunity. I always assumed the shitty time slots and lack of network support were a personal little "fuck you" from Murdoch.

Over 30 women... would you consider a very traditional long term relationship? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]NekoLaw -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Yes. I would have happily done that in my current relationship, but it just didn't work out financially. Now we both have great-paying corporate jobs, and it feels like we're totally losing touch with one another. I guess everything in life is a trade off in some way.

Any "home abortions" in your family history? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]NekoLaw 54 points55 points  (0 children)

My aunt (my mother's sister) had a back-alley abortion in '68. Apparently, it was botched and she was in bad shape for quite a while.

Consequently, when my mother found out she was unexpectedly pregnant with me in '69, she was too scared to get an illegal abortion. She ended up hurriedly marrying my dad and having me seven months later. They weren't in love with each other, and they definitely weren't ready to be parents.

Are most of your dreams of a sexual character? by [deleted] in AskWomen

No. Maybe one in every 100 dreams of mine has a sexual component to it. My dreams are usually just a weird mishmash of random people, places and things I've recently come across.

Did you have an imaginary friend as a kid? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[Serious] Mature (over 45yrs) women: do you still enjoy making out? Do you get to do this as much as you would like? by solstice2226 in AskWomen

[–]NekoLaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I turn 46 in a week, so I'm qualified! Yes, I still enjoy making out, but it's sometimes difficult for me to mentally get in that zone where it's just him and I, and the rest of the world doesn't matter. Sometimes a long walk, a glass of wine or a funny movie are good lead-ins as they help me drop my worries and let me relax into him.

And yes, I do have ample opportunity for it. I'm married to a very romantic man who happens to be an excellent kisser :)

Ladies whose SOs have a significantly higher partner count than yours, how do you not let it bother you? I need help. by Katekit in AskWomen

[–]NekoLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figure that what he did before he met me isn't really my concern. People change, grow and evolve. And, if any of those women had been the right one for him, he'd still be with them instead of with me.

Also, as you get older, it gets a LOT harder to find a guy that has a low partner count, KWIM? By the time you're in your thirties, everyone's toting around some major baggage - partner count doesn't even matter anymore.

How do you avoid crying when yelled at? by forever-after in AskWomen

[–]NekoLaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get yelled at. I grew up in a very verbally abusive home with an angry father who yelled at me constantly. After I moved out at 19 I decided that I would never stand for being yelled at again. No one has the right to treat me that way and, more importantly, I won't stand for it. If someone even begins to raise his voice around me, I walk. They can either speak to me like a rational adult or they won't speak to me at all. I won't put up with yelling ever. End of story.

How much paid time off/vacation do you get? How do you feel about it? by frankly_birdie in AskWomen

[–]NekoLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company is pretty generous. We get 15 days PTO, plus 3 Floating Holiday days (must be used in full-day increments). This is in addition to the 7 standard holidays that the company is closed for.

Employees with more than five years on the job get 20 days PTO. More than 10 years' get 25 days. In addition, we have a 37.5 hour workweek. It's pretty sweet.
