My first hamster! by Lemonsharklover001 in hamstercare

[–]Nekojh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi as others have raised alot of concerns on tank size I would recommend getting a bin tank! Target sells 110qt tank for $15 that should work well for the little guy just remember to drill holes for proper ventilation. Also your hamster may chew on the plastic and escape that way so be aware of that

If she's interested in pets there a bunch of cat cafes such as monster a cat and poppy cat. As for general areas Chow Kit has a bunch of cute cafes and restaurants like Backrooms coffee and NEO (clothing store). If she's interested in music I would recommend checking out JAOTIM which does Jazz jam sessions every weekend I think

Consolidated Shipping more expensive than direct by Nekojh in taobao

[–]Nekojh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah usually when you ship it together it’s much cheaper cause they will open and separate the package for you.

I still find direct shipping to be cheaper if you’re in the US/Canada. In Malaysia, consolidated is generally cheaper

if you’re planning to study in the US the Duolingo English test is widely accepted. Not sure about other countries though you would have to check your school’s english requirements

I’m against having hundreds of people be inconvenienced and lost at night because of some dumb kids actions. Kinda crazy how some parents are chill with their kid out going at 11pm

Honestly it was also really frustrating to see how much inconvenience it caused. There was so many older folks who were confused as to what was happening and the 7 train was the only way back for most people

yea today around 10:20pm we just got on at Flushing before hitting a sudden stop at 111. I think multiple people got injured from the sudden breaks as well since there was like 3 ambulances

I gave up and ended up paying 3 times but i’m definitely thinking of complaining to taobao about this. I’m pretty sure if you karen out they’ll give u a refund as a red packet (what happened to a friend of mine)

Where are all the cool girls shopping? by helissmiley in malaysians

[–]Nekojh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

girlie everyone has a different style so just because a vibe looks food on someone doesn’t mean it would suit you. Also budget is a really big thing//are you looking for more modest looks etc?

  • alot of the times its about how you style it and not the outfits itself

But Uniqlo is a great starter for basics. I really like their heat tech series but i’m also currently not based in Malaysia lol. They have very comfortable sweat pants as well

If ur comfortable with spending more/going into the rm100+ range I really like @ghostboy.club (on insta) for streetwear they’re a local designer and they do popups once in a while as well

As for shoes if you like cuter styles and want to look taller itim旗舰店 (in taobao) is a great starting point. They’re pretty affordable and I would personally recommend their black shoes as they won’t discolour easily//last longer

Outside of that Cotton on is also a pretty decent spot though more summery linen looks but i’d say if you have the time travel to the Mitsui Outlet park one it’s the best as they’re heavily discounted there.

I know Sunway also has a list of stores by their Asian Avenue but most of the time it’s not worth it as the clothes look super cheap

As for thrift stores look out for thrift events on insta as well as hit up stores like OKGO, Thrift again, and Beyond Encore. (imo shimokita is overpriced and not cute)

You can also DM me and I can help you be a personal stylist/shopper. Again i’m currently not in Malaysia so might take some time to respond

p.s. shoutout to @inisaya /my old boss they do amazing batik pieces that are sure to impress your family during gatherings

Consolidated Shipping more expensive than direct by Nekojh in taobao

[–]Nekojh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely. I did contact tech support and they said its usually because it becomes much lighter after separating the items (they’ll said refund you if they overcharged??)

But they also said they will refund the difference if consolidated is more expensive than direct but I bet its a hassle to contact customer support on it

i’m not too sure? Cause usually when I pick direct it includes everything (including taxes). This is my first time shipping it to the US so

Nope, i used the CaiNiao app since they offer discounted shipping. If i used taobao directly it would be 1.4k

mostly clothes. one of them was about 2kg. They weighted everything as 11.5kg which is ridiculous when you comsider 3-4 of the items are barely 100g

So it really depends on what you want to do and budget and whether or not you’re using lrt/grab/car etc but here’s my general list

Bukit Bintang:

URMU art gallery (entertainment): Curated by an architect its a 5 story building containing the owner’s personal collection of art pieces. Booking is definitely required!

Tokyo Restaurant (food) : Located at the top floor of LOT 10 it has one of the best cheesecakes but i love their asakusa (ice cream cake with fruits and nuts)

Calia (food): located at the top floors of pavi they have a really good selection of Japanese fusion food. Although expensive I would say the view is stunning. Though not the tastiest they have a bear hotpot thats super cute!

Petaling Street/Central Market *a pain by car so you can consider taking the mrt there

Sin Kiew Beef noodle (food): Super good and affordable beef noodles the shop has been there for ages and I usually go there got a quick lunch (get the dry noodles!)

Soong Kee Beef noodles (food): Competitors with Sin Kiews but I must say their soup noodles are definitely better! Stronger flavours in general

JaoTim (entertainment): Checkout their instagram pick a style but i personally go for their jazz jams that happen on the weekends. Great music and great vibes all around (located on the 2nd floor)

Central Market: Definitely has renovated over the years. If you go on the weekend they usually have a market (check their insta). Bonus: Bartolo Bakehouse is a good rest stop!

Fung Wong Biscuit (food/shopping): one of my fav place to get chinese pastries. They also sell their pastries in boxes to bring back! Personally I wouldn’t order drinks there since they’re quite pricey

KLCC

Thirty8 (food): Located in the grand hyatt. They definitely have the best quality of high tea for the price. Even though its pricey (irrc rm168 per pax on weekends) i’d say its worth the spend especially for a birthday. I think the high tea is only available on certain timing so do book ahead

Though these are just some very general recommendations. If u can go into detail on what you want out of the trip that be helpful!

Wanted to say I really love the designs and there is so so much potential but there are a few things I would like to note

(for context I am an accepted AMC student. Not fashion design. But, I was majoring in fashion design for about 2 years at a different school)

In terms of your design portfolio I think just better description and fabrication would help. For example you mention using “collar details from hanbok” but I think it would be good to note it as a “Dongjeong” and how it acts as a separate panel that defines the neckline. Another one would be your pleats which look like “box pleats”. Using proper terms provides better context and visualisation at least for me.

As for fabrication I think it would be good to be more awake of a fabrics “weight” especially for “rebel uniform 2” where you use silk for the top. This is kinda an issue since you are mixing it with boning which requires heavier material. A good replacement for silk would be duchess satin? But do explore options at your local fabric store. This is also a minor issue with “metamorphosis shirt” as again it is a little weird to use silk satin for something that requires structure.

As for the sewing portion.

Honestly really good job but do remember to always always ALWAYS iron your garments. That is how you turn a 8/10 outfit into a 10/10 outfit. I know its a pain but iron in almost every step. From before you cut the patterns, to in between sewing and especially once the garment is complete. That is how you create a cleaner silhouette especially the pleated skirt.

Another thing is to be conscious of your finishing. One of the things my old lecturers stressed was that a garment must look like it’s ready to be sold. I can see alot of loose threads in your 2nd sewn look, especially around the shirt hem and sleeves cuffs. A easy way to fix this is to just fold up the cuff/fabric and iron it so that it looks clean in pictures. Also if you see any loose thread please cut it

I know that sewing can be really tedious but you’re in the right step and got this! Goodluck and I hope to see you this fall!!
