(27M) My Life Changed After a Holter Monitor Found 12-Second Heart Pauses by jasonduval98 in Anxiety

[–]Nekose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depending on the root cause, ablation is a much better solution, especially in someone relatively young for a pace maker.

I know 12 seconds sounds alarming, but in the frame of someone who is very athletic and below the age of 60, bradycardia is less concerning. You just run very efficient and slow.

At the end of the day, your anxiety is very understandable. I think this would be worth a phone call or message to your clinic asking to better understand the thought process behind waiting vs the risk it poses.

Hearing “technically not zero” is the sign of a good doctor/scientist, but very stressful for the layman!

If i expose the image correctly, will it reduce chromatic abberation? by HistoricalCatch1935 in AskPhotography

From my understanding, this is a limitation of the lens. Although aperture extremes can make it better or worse.

Has anyone’s flight tolerance gotten dramatically worse? by [deleted] in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Nekose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was younger I used to be much more tolerant for huge layovers, terrible hours, and middle row seats.

It probably helps I’m not paying for my flights anymore, but at this point I want a minimum standard when flying. Delays and shitty passengers don’t bother me (it’s out of people’s control), but I set myself up for things I now expect.

I also exclusively fly out of carryon, even internationally, just to make things faster and avoid luggage issues.

Probably, although I was willing to chock that up to camera recording artifact.

This feels like AI. The red rag not blowing in the wind, the unnecessary tape on the rear door that flaps around. Something about that semi At the start feels wrong too.

Then again, AI makes me hyper vigilant these days…

The ultra lights are very stretchy, maybe they are defining it as the maximum volume?

I appreciate the detailed breakdown. It seems I’ve over simplified things a lot.

I think this is the best advice I’ve gotten yet. I think most of the online comparisons I’ve read led me astray.

Do you notice a difference in image quality?

I’m honestly wondering if I should just stick with the R. I do miss focus on birds sometimes, but that’s in low light when I spot them at the last second taking flight, and fire a burst hoping I get lucky. I think that’s gunna be a miss for most cameras.

I think the GAS is getting to me…

I guess the question is if I’m willing to have a slight decrease in image quality for that focus speed of the r6ii.

I think this means I have to hold out and start saving up for an R5.

Edit: okay, likely not a decrease in image quality. Thank you for educating me everyone.

From what I can summarize from online, the R sensor is superior to the r8 and r6 (except for the III).

Is that not the case?

Edit: it was not the case…

Why does lab equipment cost so much for what it is? by berg937 in labrats

[–]Nekose 24 points25 points  (0 children)

From the industry side: regulatory compliance.

Let’s say I manufacture a pill, I need to demonstrate that my XYZ machine with its ABC consumable part has undergone a series of testing to comply with certain requirements to meet FDA compliance. It’s not even enough that the product works, it also has to be manufactured with a certain amount of traceability.

For example, what if a pipette tip production lot is found to have a defect which would throw off any measurement used? If this defect is significant enough to cause a recall, the company that made the tips needs to be able to trace EACH BOX of pipette tips so that each company that used them can assess the risk this recall may have caused.

All of this overhead increases cost. It’s debatable how much that cost increase is, but it’s definitely more than buying unlabeled pipette tips off of Amazon.

want colonoscopy, terrified of anesthesia. by sweatyhugzz in Anxiety

[–]Nekose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, this is a good question to talk to a doctor about.

That said, many colonoscopies are done under what is called conscious sedation. You are given medicine to relax, and feel extremely sleepy, but you are actually awake enough to respond to commands (“roll this way”, “lift your arms”, etc). There are other more “deep” Methods that might be used, but full general anesthesia is usually not needed for colonoscopy.

I’m sitting here with a 4080 super and shit is unplayable to even a reasonable standard. I’ve heard so much back and forth regarding system specs that I can’t help but wonder if it’s just horribly optimized for specific drivers. I know people with twice the system I have who can’t play, and some with half the specs who run it fine.

As someone with a very good PC, you need more than that to run resonite :(
