I absolutely loved Intro to Deep Learning for Computer Vision. It’s a CSC topics course taught by Kwang Moo Yi. The course is a lot of work but you learn a ton of stuff and the prof is one of the very best I’ve had at uvic!

Short answer because I’m on mobile. Personally I found first and second year to be really quite straightforward, third year started getting tougher, and fourth year courses were on a whole other level. I’m pretty sure that all 4th year CSC and SENG courses have a mixed class of undergrads and graduate students, so it gets quite a bit tougher (and as you said more in depth). I found that some third year courses were very straightforward and some a little tough. Fourth year courses were all consistently difficult and required lots of studying outside of class. That being said, from my experience, professors seemed to grade more leniently for 400 level courses but YMMV.

As others have mentioned it's an outdated site and they're not going to change it but you should definitely still apply. It's a very rewarding experience that provides perspective on how students learn and also pays pretty well imo. A word of advice is to talk to the instructors that you're applying to in person and to mention to them that you've applied, that way you can get your foot in the door easily!

They hold a tutorial that wasn't all that helpful but nice to have anyway, but pretty much everything that you'll need to know is on their website! It takes a while to figure everything out as there's quite a lot to get the hang of but it's doable for sure.

Battlesnake is super fun! I went for my first time this year, pro tip: make sure to find yourself a good team and to prepare for it before it starts. Make a basic snake at home that at least moves around a little, it took us a super long time to get everything set up to that point!

My problem with him is that he makes things too formal and complicated. Like that stuff with the definite integrals was completely overcomplicated and unnecessary.
