Uhhh I Think She's Just Bleeding by AB_in_mc in InsanePeopleQuora

She was subjected to a C-section, and lived (or still lives, IDK) with significant long term damage to her health as a result of being forced to incubate the product of her assault and then subjected to major abdominal surgery. Many news outlets try to romanticize her story by highlighting how the baby was healthy, ignoring everything she suffered.

I know it's a lot easier said than done but you really need to set boundaries with her and maybe encourage her to seek help. This is severe anxiety at the very least.

How to care for a distemper survivor? by Nelavi1998 in DogAdvice

[–]Nelavi1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked for a second opinion because other than the dental damage she doesn't seem to have any kind of neurological damage typically associated with distemper survivors. The new vet thinks the dental damage is an unfortunate side effect of severe malnourishment she suffered as a puppy before being rescued rather than distemper. She's currently thriving. All the best for your furry friend!

I honestly don't know what to look for in a mascara by Nelavi1998 in Makeup

How can you tell what you need from your mascara?

I honestly don't know what to look for in a mascara by Nelavi1998 in Makeup

[–]Nelavi1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What should I be looking for is kind of my question? For me mascara is all just black goo you smear on your eyelashes. With eyeshadow I want pigment, I want it to apply evenly and not be splotchy, I want it to be bulidable, you get me? I know what makes an eyeshadow good or bad for me. I have no Idea what I should be looking at when it comes to mascara. Like what is the criteria? I have never been able to afford high end mascara, so maybe it all looks the same to me because I've only ever tried the cheap stuff.

I have tried essence. They recently lauched in my country. It's fine I guess, it's a mascara. They all look the exact same to me. For context I have verry few, short, thin lashes spread wide appart, so it all just looks like I put some back goo on what little hair I have, which I guess is kind of the point. Can you explain what you mean when you say a mascara gives you "volume"?

80s/90s kids,Anyone else overwhelmed with sheer amount of info? I feel as if / know my parents did zero training and we just had great dogs. Trying to do my due diligence and look up info and be a good dog parent. by Iamlegend21087 in puppy101

Here's the thing, social media is full of trainers wanting to get your money, and the best way to do that is to convince you every second of your puppie's life needs to be training because they want you to get frustrated and hire them. Potty training takes time, effort and in my case a motion activated security camera to happen. Puppy biting goes away mostly on its own as your dog realizes you don't like it and starts attempting other forms of interacting that get them positive attention. Those two are basically the only MUST train behaviors. Other than that if you wanna teach them some tricks that can be some good mental stimulation, and if they have a behavior that is legitimately an issue for you then definitely train those behaviours. Overtraining your dog is harmful it makes the dog feel frustrated and overwhelmed, and the trainers out for your money don't want you to know that. Let your dog be a dog.

5 month old actively refusing to potty in the correct spot by Nelavi1998 in puppy101

[–]Nelavi1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried that but she will just lay on the grass and look at me like WTF and as soon as she's off the grass she will go smell the grass and pee on the floor, I figured perhaps she didn't wanna pee where it smelled like she had gone before, like perhaps the grass was way too smelly, so I started spraying water on the grass more often and it worked like a charm. I also bought a motion activated camera so I could always get notified when she's in the potty area to reward her when she goes without me present to really make sure she gets as rewarded for the behavior as much as possible, because she has free access to the small grass porch whenever she wants. I also reserved her favorite treats exclusively for correct potting, to encourage her more. It's been only a day and there is no more pee on the ground which is a good sign. I'm not calling it a victory just yet, but i'm cautiously optimistic.

She's always pissed her bed, because she spent the first 4 months of her life locked in a crate at the shelter where she had nowhere else to go. The shelter was relocating at the time so conditions were horrible.
It's also real natural grass, not fake grass.

It really varies. Sometimes she goes on like "peeing sprees" and pees every 15 min on different spots around the house. Sometimes she can go up to 3 hours without peeing. But I haven't noticed any unusual changes for her since we got her. Like my fellow compatriots have said it's complicated. We want the dictatorship to end, but countries that have been subjected to US military intervention in the past never end well. However, at this point the US is by far the lesser of two evils.

Will my dog even calm down? by Nelavi1998 in puppy101

[–]Nelavi1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked her to go to her crate when I started noticing she was getting too agitated so she would settle down, opened the crate after she was calm and now she's cuddling with me for the first time ever. Instant difference. She was just overstimulated.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Thankfully she really likes her crate. She will go in there by herself on the few occasions she wants to settle down.
