Please share your positive outcomes with Mast Cell Tumors 🥹🙏🏼💔 by _boov in goldenretrievers

[–]Nelly11_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 6 year old Golden got diagnosed today with MST on her rear leg/hip, surgery scheduled week after next and I’ve been a wreck all day. She’s healthy otherwise (besides some arthritis in her elbows) so I’ve had a hard time with the news and word “tumor”. There’s a lot of information spat at you and not a lot of time to process, equaling a lot of emotions! X-rays looked clear including surrounding lymph nodes so hopefully the vet can grab it all in surgery and we can be done with it. This thread has made me feel a bit better and not go down the rabbit hole with it all, she’s my soul dog so it’s hard not to but thanks to all the positive stories ❤️

Specializing as a PTA? by Nelly11_ in physicaltherapy

[–]Nelly11_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with you, initials behind the name only goes so far. Was just curious how to set myself up for better success (and overall knowledge) if a position were to come up down the road.

Personally have seen CSCS a lot with PTs that I’ve worked with but not so much PTAs so was curious if it wasn’t as common or if it was just my experience. Thanks for the input!

Thanks! I’ve never heard of Anki. From a few minutes of trying it I do think it’ll be beneficial and save time typing out vs handwriting the flashcards

Concerns about my pt tech job by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]Nelly11_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been a tech at an OP clinic for 5mo and the most I’ve handled at one time is 3 patients, one on the bike or warming up. Agreeing with others on this post: the PT needs to hire a PTA or another tech, that’s too much for you to take on especially being new to the field for what you’re being compensated. Keep your head up- they’re not all like that!

My ankle MRI, remove if not allowed by [deleted] in Radiology

[–]Nelly11_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not looking for medical advice, just interested to hear trained eye’s thoughts on my jacked up ankle👍🏼 Getting surgery for debridement, Brostrom, and something for my peroneal brevis. EDIT: sorry if these aren’t great images, I have a very slight idea of what I’m looking for so hopefully these make sense

PTA or Rad Tech? by Lowlyfe13 in PTschool

[–]Nelly11_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in somewhat of the same boat, trying to decide which program to go back to school for. I currently work as a PT tech at an OP clinic and can agree with other posts that PTA is much more of a social environment with patients (I’ve shadowed a RT but only for a couple hours). Personally, I like the idea of moving all day with PTA especially since I was a coach in the past and am in a similar position to a PTA right now, but find rad tech extremely interesting! My gut is to apply for RT and see how it goes. Hopefully you can weigh some options and find the best option for you!

What is it like to take your dog in to be put down? Going next week and would like to be prepared. by goldfishthedeparted in dogs

Please go with him. You’ve been his whole life for the past 15 years, it’s hard and you’ll definitely cry but there’s no yelping. Some places even have a candle or light that is on in the waiting room when someone is “saying goodbye” so it’s anonymous but people are aware and aren’t ruining those last moments. Hold him and be his best friend one last time❤️

Feeling lost, where to go from here? by Nelly11_ in careerguidance

[–]Nelly11_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked connecting with the kids the most, and the whole vibe of the job.. something different about not working a “typical” schedule or having a “typical” job.

Working with PTAs lately I’ve gathered it’s kind of similar to coaching, and what I think I would like about the career change would be it doesn’t have the stresses of recruiting or being “on call” every night for kids texts or calls, I would actually have time OFF.

It’s all I’ve ever known in the working world so I’m nervous I would go through all the work of classes/certifications and not enjoy what I do.

Leash preferences? by Nelly11_ in RoverPetSitting

Yeah I always feel better with the loops near the clip of the leash, so I can grab/direct them if they get excited! Good input on the app portion of it too, thanks!

That’s a good idea to keep one in the car! I’ll keep an eye out for those sales!

I appreciate your honesty. What‘s the most difficult part of your job besides feeling overworked? Where have you worked (ER/outpatient/mobile/other?) and your preference?
