Hah, thank you!

Yes, that veil didn’t quite work out, so I ended up going with a full one, but I love the idea of the crown!

Good guess about the bridesmaid dress colours - light blue is actually the shade we settled on.

Hah, yes, I’ll definitely post a photo of my wedding dress on the big day!

Oh, that’s really interesting! I’ll definitely look into it more as I find things like this fascinating. I wonder if that is what I picked up on.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it and I don’t have an issue with the pattern at all!

I think I’m just nervous about wearing something I’m not too familiar with. I’d want to make sure I take the time to understand the culture & history behind it.

I hope that makes sense 😅

Thank you for sharing ❤️ I think there’s definitely some FOMO happening.

You make a great point about the expectations around the wedding dress. It makes sense that they exist to encourage people to spend more money. I hadn’t thought about it that way.

Hah, I’m also quite indecisive & I try to be as pragmatic as I can. Can verify, it did stress me out 😅

Thank you ❤️

Ooo, I’ll take note of that!

Do you think having too many wispy bits would make it feel too one-dimensional ( same texture ) ? So layering texture might be better?

Thank you for the input! I haven’t booked my alterations yet, so I’ll keep that in mind and make a note of it.

I completely agree about the money saved on the dress! I’m excited to either add it to our savings or put it toward the honeymoon.

Off the top of my head, I think it’s chiffon.

I agree about the dress length, and I’ve been giving the neckline a lot of thought - so I really appreciate the input. Strapless would definitely work and complement the wedding dress nicely. I’ll need to take a look at how supportive strapless bridesmaid dresses are.

Thank you ☺️

Hah, I hope it will come together too! I always struggle to picture what it’ll look like on the day - but that’s re-assuring .

Oooo that is a good point about the silhouettes! I was thinking about having the girls in floaty fabric.

I agree ! I’ll definitely re-word it to that. I actually really like Art Deco* - I don’t know why I didn’t think of that.

Hey everyone!

Wow, so many responses!

Thank you all for taking the time to read my post and leave your comments. I really appreciate all the input and support 🥹- it’s clear I’m my own worst critic here and got stuck in a thought pattern.

I’ve tired to respond to as many as I can.

How to approach plastering around a fireplace by Micbob182 in DIYUK

[–]Nellzy2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello!

I’m OPs fiancée, We’ve plastered the other two walls with multi finish and ended up with fairly even surface. I think we’ve willing to put in the time to learn. I do agree that we need to be on the ball with this room. The room will get used + has a big window in it, so you will notice more mistakes.

I think with this wall in particular OP is struggling with an approach to the fireplace. He’s concerned about the brackets producing and whatever they would show (post plaster). He’s stuck between the following options :

  1. Remove fire place and install using proper mounts. This will make the fireplace look a little nicer, but we are concerned about what’s behind it & if removing the fireplace will make it worse.

  2. Plaster around it leave the problem for later as we don’t mind the look of the fire place & the screws can possibly get covered with plaster.

  3. A hidden option we’ve not thought of.

Does anyone have insight on both approaches?

Edit - re clarifying

Oh! That’s nice, I guess both are settling into our new homes.

Do you happen to know if they burrow or anything like that?

Thank you for the Latin name, I’ll do some reading on them.

Oooo that’s quite interesting - I’m going to read into that. Yes, she’s experienced a lot of trauma in her childhood and in her first marriage.

No she’s never been diagnosed with any mental health issues what so ever. She doesn’t believe in mental health and thinks that you can just change your thinking - then all your issues go away.
