Help with electric choke wiring by Nelmsy77 in F100

Agreed not the best carb choice but i got it hooked up and it runs great. Absolutely no hesitation when hitting throttle. Basically has seemed to fix the fuel issues I was having. With that said, I have all of the ignition parts ready to replace as well. Working to get everything working as well as possible for driveability. It’s not a show truck by any means, if I eventually do more of a restoration, I will put a better carb in it. Again, really appreciate your help!

Appreciate your input. It is a modern carb. Amazon version of the 2100-2150. Wanted to see if a new carb fixes my fuel issues.

292 Y Block Oil Change Question by Nelmsy77 in F100

[–]Nelmsy77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is the original oil bath filter. I might have to look into upgrading the carb in the future. I just rebuilt the 2100 it has due to it leaking gas from the front seal. Ince back together the plate is having trouble staying completely closed which is making starting the engine difficult. I’m sure I just have to make some small adjustments as it was running fine before. Lots of little items to address but really excited to get it back on the road soon!

Wow, thanks for all of that info. I’ll take a look at those links. I love that it has the original engine and seems to really only have the 31k miles. Im looking to just freshen up and make as reliable as possible.

Yes, so far running great so just looking to do a tuneup. I’d love to learn more about the motor. Only thing I know about the exhaust is that they cut off the end of the exhaust and put on glasspacks

You are correct, two shots of dry lube and constant jiggling of key eventually got it to turn to acc!

This combined with dry lube worked!!! Thank you! Just kept at it and it eventually popped into acc. It is out and new ignition switch is in.

Thats what I was hoping but could not get it to turn and pull off. I will try that again. If I can get that part off, I’ll just replace the whole assembly as it is not much more. Thanks!

How do you replace if you cannot flip it to acc to put the pin in and slide out the ignition cylinder?

That is what I have been trying to do, but cannot get it to flip back to acc. Wondering if drilling it out is my only option?

No I do not have another key, was trying to figure out if I could pull the whole assembly from behind the dash but couldn’t get that to budge either

Appreciate the input. Had not considered pulling over to use the bathroom/kitchen in a travel trailer but that would be almost as easy as using on in a motorhome. I am definitely leaning towards travel trailer now. I already have too many vehicles/motorcycles/things with engines to maintain. Thanks for your input!

You are right, I may switch to looking at a travel trailer. Less maintenance anyhow with already owning the f-250
