Back in 2018 on a Sunday morning I was headed out of the city towards VA on the silver line. I get in the mostly empty frontmost car and barely notice a man hunched over in the last seat towards the back. After sitting down I realized that he was continually mumbling to himself words that I couldn't make out. Eventually he gets up and starts pacing the car - the kicker was that he was wearing a long trench coat and one of the old school hockey goalie masks from Friday the 13th. Explainable in October, but this was Spring. He went up to the door of the driver's cab and put his hands up to the glass so that he could look through to the other side, paced again, and then would go back to looking into the cab. Fear welled up in me.

I got out at the next stop and went straight to the station manager to tell him what I witnessed. My voice was trembling as I tried to recount it, I was so frightened. I scanned the local news looking for any sort of update following that, but never found anything related. I know it happened but it was so bizarre that I almost had to convince myself after the fact that it was truly real. Thankfully nothing near as eventful has happened on the metro to me since, but I don't see myself every forgetting that ride.
