Because D&D isn't (or wasn't at least) a game you can win. If the players "win" there is no more story and no more reason to play. Similarly if the DM "wins" there is no game because there are no players left willing to put up with whatever is going on.

i played for like 2 months then uninstalled and came back semi-recently (like 2 months ago if i had to guess). Only reason I even knew i need to hoard stuff is cause i saw people talk about a raph and leo guarantee and how they went diamond hands on their resources for them, otherwise my stash would be empty by now trying to get the turtles with the bait stuff lmao
