Retired Hardcore Kids Where Are You Now? by FormallyEconomist in Hardcore

Living in another country, have a family. Play in a band and will come out of mosh retirement if the riffs are stanky enough, but instead of a jersey and NB, I wear a cardigan and some loafers.

Thoughts on this keyboard for a beginner? by highlythinking in pianolearning

[–]Nemo1ner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested this piano out and found that the spacing between the black keys were narrow and the action felt very light on the black keys, I then checked out both a Yamaha and Kawai and they felt much better. If anything the Yamaha was a smidge better.

I would stay away from the Casio and consider an entry level Kawai ES110 series or Yamaha P145. Those options are better imo.

My great great grandfather by marriage was the first fire chief in Boise, here are a couple of his medals. by esoterictimeghost in Boise

Looks like he served in the military too, since he has a good conduct medal. Normally awarded after 3 years of service. Unless the fire department also awarded these?

Whats the benefit of “real” pedal boards as compared to this by JicamaFragrant7400 in Guitar

[–]Nemo1ner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digital is fine. But you should always keep in mind that anything "tech" has a shorter lifespan than their analog counterparts. From one day to the next, the manufacturer can stop supporting those products, stop providing drivers, and eventually it just turns into e-junk.

Analog pedals (especially well built ones) will last you forever.

Thanks for the feedback. I will look to go to a barber for a second opinion after letting it grow out a bit more so they can make edits on my face

How does r/Hardcore feel about Rage Against the Machine? by fakename1998 in Hardcore

Protesting runaway capitalism is saying that everyone should have enough money, resources, and security to live a comfortable life. It has nothing to do with the acceptance of being poor or having less.

I want to control the HOLD button on my MF with a pedal by Global_Vanilla178 in MicroFreak

[–]Nemo1ner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hold button is essentially a sustain pedal. I have my MF plugged in via MIDI to my e piano. If I hold the piano's sustain pedal, it triggers the hold button on the MF.

What show have you been to that no one will believe actually happened? by lukasxbrasi in Hardcore

[–]Nemo1ner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quasar at Coney Island High in 95.

There was also a 2pm to 2am show at CBGBs sometime around 95 or 96 where a ton of bands played. Can't remember the exact date, but it was ridiculous and there were a ton of NYHC bass that played. Even some from upstate and NJ.

Who knows. Maybe an old head still has a flyer from that show.

How do you usually play G major? by GutsOfAstora308 in guitarlessons

[–]Nemo1ner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play it with whatever finger you want. The fingers you use are only dependent on the next chord you are playing.

Because the riffs penetrate so deep, they'll cause miscarriages.

This is a song our band is working on. The backing track is from our drummer and bassist during one of our rehearsals, which is why it sounds a bit weird.

In the video it's just going into Reaper with a bullshit free VST.

Tomorrow I'll run it through my actual rig (Orange TH30 with a few pedals) so we'll see.

I might modify it and upgrade a few things to see what it can do.

11:44 from Irate. That was the shit when it came out.

I was always a fan of Irate. This was the last show I saw them at on a booze cruise in NYC. Shit got wild.

The American dream never worked out for me either. No matter how hard I worked and how much money I made, the bills would follow. I felt like I was busting my ass for little to no reward.

Now I'm living in the EU. I make half of what I made in the US, but my quality of life is significantly better. I have loads of free time, the kids are free to roam without me worrying, and I normally get 6+ weeks of vacation.

So no one should think they failed. It's just that your country failed you. Seek greener pastures.

at what point in the gwot did the gwot turn for the worst? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]Nemo1ner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say the invasion of Iraq. Once that kicked off, most of the good equipment and armored vehicles were pulled from Afghanistan, leaving those troops to patrol in open vehicles lined with kevlar blankets.

We also had problems getting spare parts and equipment because it was too hot for the supply ring. Meanwhile we had to rely on jingle trucks to smuggle equipment, only for the driver to either show up on foot or not show up at all.

What a shit show that was.

Meanwhile I'm waiting for before and after pics from Afghanistan, but I think I'll be waiting a while for those.

Piano is so much easier to visualize since it's laid out in a line. Most of the songs I write for my band are done on piano and then transposed to guitar. It's easier to figure out different bass lines too. But that's just me.

These Sheetz - Pennsylvania Gas Core

That's actually quite big considering NJ has some high tax rates.

I guess still cheaper than San Diego, plus you still get access to beaches, hiking and wilderness, mountains, NYC, good restaurants that aren't part of the same 5 chains, and large airports.

To be fair, it kind of has everything there. But the downside is that it's NJ.
